George Russell achieved a clear victory in the Singapore Grand Prix of Max Verstappen, while a three-four finish for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri McLaren has secured his second consecutive Constructors Championship.

Russell received a perfect launch of De Lijn to keep Verstappen in his mirrors and stacked almost 10s on the field on the field in the opening 20 laps for everyone, except to secure his victory.

The Mercedes driver was briefly threatened after the pit stops, when Verstappen seemed to have the pace to catch him in the second stint, but a single error from the Dutchman with the chicane, sent him wide, broke his challenge immediately. Russell freed to claim his and Mercedes’ second victory of the season and the fifth victory of his career.

“It feels great,” he said. “I am just so grateful for the team. They did a great job all weekend.

“We don’t really know where this version came from, but I’m really, very happy.”

While the start of Russell was Serene, the opening round was anything but for the contenders of the championship.

The start of Verstappen was slow from the first row, making it vulnerable to Piastri from third place. The Australian, however, was on the outside of Turn 3 by his fast -start teammate Norris, who was launched of the fifth.

Norris jumped along the sister McLaren from the top, but a fractional incorrect estimate let him reverse and his front wing broke, and when correcting the error he kept Piastri dangerously close to the wall.

Norris came from the incident third for the furious Piastri in fourth place.

“Are we cool with Lando who just gets me out of the way, or what’s there?” He got up and he raised the Ante when he did not respond to his team to his worries.

“That’s not fair,” he said. “I’m sorry, that’s not fair. If he has to avoid another car by crashing his teammate, then that is a free **** task to avoid.”

The team has only committed itself to a discussion after the race; In the meantime, Norris Verstappen on the road chased his damaged front wing no obstacle to his version.

Their duel twisted in round 19 when Verstappen was pulled into the pits to guard against Norris Undercut. The Dutchman exchanged his used softs for fresh hards, and a strong outdoor edge forced Norris to run deeper into the race to build a tire offset.

But the strategies of him and Piastri were compromised by Charles Leclerc -Putjes immediately after Verstappen. With fresh tires, the Ferrari was close to the pit window of the McLaren drivers, limited how long they could wait to stop.

It was a repeat of the scenario of the Italian Grand Prix, where Piastri was first stopped to guard against the sub -murder and Norris prevented team orders to be activated to turn positions.

The team again asked Norris if he would like to run the risk of being undermined, but this time he rejected the offer and insisted that he will stop first.

Norris set clean on round 26 and Piastri during the next tour, but the service of the Australian was slow and left him 9s behind his teammate and from the podium conflicts. It freed Norris to aim his attention and Verstappen that ran deep in the chicane in round 36, let the Red Bull Racing driver fall directly into his claws.

“The back is like a handbrake,” said Verstappen, complaining about dealing with problems. “It’s so hard to drive.”

Norris closed the gap to less than a second in round 46 while the pair navigated, slowly moving traffic, where the Brit held on the Dutchman’s gearbox to prevent felled cars from giving his rival the chance to escape. But he only came close enough to try a movement once – a failure around the outside in round 53 that the ruling champion would never force in an error. Unable to find a way past, Verstappen was able to claim a loaded second place, only 0.636 for Norris.

“The entire race was quite difficult,” he said. “More difficult than I had hoped for many different reasons.

“A few things we have to understand [about] Why these things went wrong today; But even then, here, even if you have more pace, you can’t pass without anything crazy, so I think the second than the maximum result was. “

The third place of Norris guaranteed the title of the constructors, regardless of other results, so that the first back-to-back titles of the Woking team have been secured since the four consecutive triumphs of 1988-1991.

“I gave it everything today,” said Norris. “A few chances next to each other and some good small pieces fight, but it was just too difficult to catch up, which is a pity because the pace was very strong today,

“I am happy with today. I have had two positions. As a team we have won the constructors again, so I am most happy with that.”

Piastri finished a dissatisfied fourth, the lead of the Australian’s Championship cut to 22 points over Norris and 63 points about Verstappen.

Kimi Antonelli finished fifth after a fight with the Ferrari drivers. He fell behind Charles Leclerc on the opening round, but got the Ferrari director back in the second Stint before he kept a rapidly closing Lewis Hamilton on the arm of the arm in the final phase.

Leclerc finished sixth for Hamilton, who had been on course to finish at least sixth after a late second stop for soft tires, but a brake failure brought him to the seventh at the flag. Hamilton, however, will see the stewards about accusations after the race, he surpassed the rail limits as he hoped to the finish.

Isack Hadjar finished 11th after fighting a problem with the Power unit that cost him several tenths per round, which enforced Yuki Tsunoda for the place.

Lance Stroll finished 13th ahead for Alex Albon, Liam Lawson, Franco Colapinto, Gabriel Bortoleto, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly and Nico Hulkenberg.
