Welcome! Where are you, you ask. I call this the weekend 9. See it as a place to warm you up for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will have thoughts. We have tips. We have tweets. But in total only nine, although sometimes perhaps more and sometimes perhaps less. What are I am concerned? The sections below tell part of the story. I can be reached at nick.piastowski@golf.com.
For 20 years I have wondered who wore a ride 50 meters over my head at Bethpage Black.
However, in order to start this mystery, we have to jump until 1999 until 1999. That summer I lived during the internship in Huntington Station, NY, the home of a shopping center named after writer Walt Whitman, Friendly’s restaurants and my first experience with the Long Island Rail Road. But Bethpage was where I had to go, the Li’ers told me. Five golf courses. Grillroom. Everything a few miles away. Say less. I played red. And the green. And the blue. And the yellow. But because of funky stage – hours and mild fear, I never got on black – but I regretted it. On my last day I tried it, but it was booked and I bought a main shower.

$ 39.99/year
But Ethan was – and still is – a Helluva -Kerel. In 2004 I was the best man in his wedding. And he knew that I had been on the mingle not to play the black. So if the gift of a best man, he wanted us to try. Stay in Long Island. See the city. Play Golf. Yessir.
Then it rained.
Every day.
We managed nine holes on the green and ended up in a downpour – who led a firefighter in a nearby fire truck to scream about a speaker: “Go inside, your Freakin idiots.” So we did, had a pint and left. But we have returned to our last day. This time Ethan wanted a souvenir, and for entertainment I looked at the Tee Times Board.
There was a black opening.
For $ 45. Twilight rate.
Thirty minutes later we got away and ridiculed my first ball. What does it matter? We were on. We were combined with a Long Island Pad and Son. Two was behind us.
You may know where this is going. The first paragraph gives it away.
On 5 our four 300 meters was out, when a ball fell over us, 50 meters ahead.
;)
The Cypress point that you don’t know: Club Insiders reveal the hidden allure of real estate
By means of:
Michael Bamberger
The father with whom we were linked turned around. He shouted. Every other word he said started with the letter F. He needed an apology. He told us we shouldn’t move. Ethan and I felt a few things. Confusion? Yes. Fear? Yes. But mainly curiosity. What went down?
And who hit that ball?
It was … a 15-year-old.
He apologized. An older man with him apologized. Our play partner said some different things. But while he walked away, I whispered to the child:
“Nice shot.”
But I never captured his name, although ‘perhaps’ the mystery teen bomber or bethpage’ provides a better story. Regarding the point here, in addition to needing an intro for our weekly conversation? Since this Ryder Cup was announced, I am convinced that Golf will not see greater happening. Team event. In Long Island. With a Muni. A loved one. The CC of the people.
Where everyone has a story.
Let’s see if we can find eight more items for the weekend 9 (and if you have a Bethpage story yourself, send it to me. I love a good yarn.
A collection meal of the week that was
2. An interview that Rory Mcilroy did with the Off The Ball Group this week at the Amgen Irish Open met me. In it, while talking about his motivation after his victory of the masters, he was asked if he could win the Masters again, and he answered in this way – who again showed his loyalty to Caddy Harry Diamond:
“Second green jacket, a second Claret, a second US open,” said McIlroy. “You know, Harry said pretty short after I won Augusta, he said, it’s great that you won the Grand Slam, but I haven’t done that yet. So I was, that’s cool. It would be cool to be able to do that with Harry. Chance to win a green coat.

Another collection meal of the week was that
3. On Wednesday, a member of our team wrote in our Slack channel: “When will Paddy write a self-help book?” The idea was a reaction to the Padraig Harrington press conference prior to the Amgen Irish Open, where Harrington answered 12 questions from reporters, but spoke about 20 minutes, which again confirmed that he might just be the best thinker of Golf.
This exchange was my favorite, with the reporter’s question in italics:
How do you keep the fire in your stomach?
“I have this theory that I fit very nicely, especially until my age group,” said Harrington. “Most careers take about 20 years, but it is seven or eight years before you start and peak in. You probably have 18 months, two years of the real peak, a few years after that, and then 15 to 20 years old, you are equipped. You are still playing, but you would have equipped that. So many people.
“I do see the highlight of people’s career reasons take place much earlier. That run of 18 months, two seasons run can happen two or three years, four years after their career, but no one is ever good after the peak. That’s the nature of the game. So yes, Burn-Out and it would come for me in 2016, about 20 years. I actually thought it was nice to play golf.
“I have found a new lease of life. The Champions Tour has certainly helped with that. The strange thing is, I play better, [and] The temptation is to work harder again and to go back to try harder. It’s pretty simple. I describe it this way: 15 years ago, if someone said we were going to eat, I would not have gone – I have physio, I have to go to the gym, I have to do this, I have to do that recovery, all of that. Now I’m going a bit, we’re going to eat, great, I’ll change everything to go for that dinner. I’m still going to the gym, I will still do my physio. But my priorities, I would not be as professional anywhere I would have been 15 years ago because I can’t.
“It burned me to try too hard. Three and a half hours before you get up, a young man can do that. I look at the young boys and I see them doing things in the gym and so on, and I go, yes, I did all that.
“I have been revived because I have found a new way. I have always liked to play golf. I have always liked practicing, but I have to have a different prospect. I think it will come to most people in their lives, they get a stage in their own work where they have everything to try to have a kind of best. Golf.”

5. I also enjoyed the thread below From the golfers journal (and the complete story can be found at the bottom of the tweets):
In 1982, a Caddy threw an improvised hiding place between the 15th and 16th holes on Cypress Point and lived in secret for eight months.
Not in the city.
Not on the road.

A golf story that I found interesting
6. I found this interesting. In a recent episode of Barrstool’s “Fore Play” Podcast, Tommy Fleetwood spoke about how he played his mini -driver in the game -and said he had learned about it through Fred -Parten.
“So I was with the Masters in 2023,” said Fleetwood. “Fred couples is on the reach of this Burner Mini Driver. And I mean, Fred talks to everyone in the assortment at the Masters. As if he likes to talk, balls, hang out, whatever. And he comes to me, he starts talking, he is talking about this club. He is going:” Did you see this club, I look like something like it? Like whatever.
“Anyway, I got one at Hilton Head the next week and I hit it everywhere all week and I had something like that, this club is incredible. So I had one since then, like literally that day. And I think I should actually give Fred Pairs because he was probably the first and I was probably the first place.”

What you e -mail me
11. Below is an e -mail that I received this week:
“Every player who played in a Ryder Cup tells about what an honor it is to be part of the Ryder Cup team and what a dream comes true.
“But nowadays, Captains are more interested in the bragging of winning the cup instead of distributing the honor to represent the US or Europe to as much prospective golfers as possible. It would be expected that it is the most effective way for the captains to practice the captains, simply because they have the honor of the Kapite’s dream. The current form.
“Unfortunately, the media in general do not mark this practice and criticize it. You may also believe that the bragging is more important than the dream itself. Too bad!”
