Indian tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna, one of only four Indians to win a Grand Slam title, announced his retirement from professional tennis on Saturday (November 1, 2025), ending a career spanning more than two decades on the challenging ATP Tour.
The 45-year-old Bopanna’s last appearance on the Tour came at the Paris Masters, where he teamed up with Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, who lost in the opening round earlier this week.
In an emotional statement titled ‘A Goodbye… But Not The End’, Bopanna said he was ‘officially hanging up his racket’, reflecting on a journey that took him from his hometown Coorg to the biggest arenas in the tennis world.
“Starting my journey from a small town of Coorg in India, chopping logs of wood to strengthen my serve, jogging through coffee plantations to build endurance and chasing dreams on cracked tracks to standing under the lights of the world’s biggest arenas – it all feels surreal,” Bopanna wrote.
Bopanna ended his career in India last year after the Paris Olympics. He had announced his retirement from the Davis Cup in 2023 and played his last match against Morocco in Lucknow.
