Roca (Livestock washing) was the overall top seller of the 2025 London Classic Yearling Sale, which concluded on Wednesday, October 15 at the J-AAR Expo Center in Western Fair District in London, Ont.
Roca, sold as Hip 202, was the overall top seller with the highest bid on day two of $190,000, purchased by Power Racing Stable Inc. from Burlington, Ont. The pregnant filly is the father of Livestock washing out of the unraced Rocknroll Hanover mare Rockumentary, who comes from the family of stallion Articulator. Roca is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Cusdmagicdragon ($352,506 – 1:52.2f) and The Dragon Rocks ($344,276 – 1:51.2s). The sales topper was submitted by Dean & Ashley Wilson.
King Sullivan, hip 183, was the top-selling trotter at the auction, purchased during the second session for $150,000 from Shane Weber of Welland, Ont. as the winning bidder. Also sent by Dean & Ashley Wilson, the King of the North Colt is the first foal out of the winning EL Titan mare Lefkada, a half-sister of two-time O’Brien Award winner Intimidate.
Century Nantucket, Hip 179, was among the highest priced yearlings on day two, purchased for $115,000 by Rich Stiles of Chelsea, Michigan. from the Century Springs Farm shipment. The Gambler’s delight Colt is the first foal out of the multi-stakes winning Downbytheseaside mare Cape Cod Hanover, a half-sister to six winners over $100,000, including under-1:50 pacers Chaser Hanover and Clouseau Hanover.
Another big yearling on day two was Gilcrest Seelster, Hip 173, who bid $107,000. Lindsey Rankin of Lexington, Michigan purchased the son of Livestock washing from the Seelster Farms shipment. Gilcrest Seelster is out of the Jeremes Jet mare Glamor Seelster, an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner with nearly $230,000 in earnings, and the colt is a half-brother to OSS Grassroots champion Grandeur Seelster ($342,336 – 1:51.1s) and Goldrush Seelster ($149,520 – 1:53,3f).
A trio of yearlings sold just under six figures in the second session, with Twin B Copacabana, Dinamica and Up Sheets Creek each making $90,000.
Twin B Copacabana, Hip 190, was purchased by Anthony Beaton of Waterdown, Ont., who acted as agent. The filly from the Twinbrook Limited consignment is once again a descendant of the hot sire Livestock washing out of the stakes-winning Sportswriter mare Lovely Erin. Twin B Copacabana is a half-sister to stakes winner Twin B High Tide ($239,742 – 1:52.1f) and Twin B Nation ($180,156 – 1:51.3f).
Dinamica, hip 271, was acquired by Sylvain Descheneaux of Sorel-Tracy, Que. from the Erinwood Equine consignment. The Muscle mass filly is a half-sister to Angel Nation ($720,690 – 1:52.1f). Her dam is the six-figure Deweycheatumnhowe mare Seawind Pascale, a half-sister to two-time O’Brien Award winner Perfetto.
The penultimate yearling to go through the sales ring as Hip 303, Up Sheets Creek, was purchased by Millar Farms of Stouffville, Ont. The Livestock washing colt is the second foal out of the Betting Line mare Sayso Hanover, a half-sister of millionaire Jugette champion Sassa Hanover.
Four yearlings exceeded the $100,000 mark during the opening session on Tuesday, October 14, led by the $140,000 yearling DA Mindcraft, Hip 80, a Muscle Mass-Pretty Crafty colt purchased by Pollack Racing of Venetia, Pennsylvania from the Dean & Ashley Wilson consignment.
During the two-day auction in London, a total of 289 yearlings passed the ring, grossing $8,873,000. The average price was $30,702, almost 7.7 percent more than last year’s sale when 246 yearlings sold for $7,015,000, for an average of $28,516.
Pacing colts led the way with an average price of $34,792 from 72 horses sold, followed by trotting fillies with 62 averaging $34,148.
Bulldog Hanover was the leading sire with more than one yearling sold with offspring averaging $51,708 from 24 yearlings sold, just ahead of Cattlewash, whose 33 offspring sold averaged $51,667. A pioneer in the field of trotting stallions, 25 offspring from King Of North’s first crop averaged $50,542, rounding out the sires with an average of $50,000 or more.
