CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After a rare $20,000 break at the MacRae Memorial, the iron-sided Acefortyfour Dome (The credit runs out) will try to bounce back at Thursday night’s $4,150 recommended pace for fillies and mares at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 11-dash Thursday program begins at 6 p.m., with race 10 serving as the event for distaff pacers with a $4,150 purse.
From post 2, Acefortyfour Dome is rated as the 5-2 favorite in the morning line for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester. The daughter of Up The Credit finished seventh on broken equipment in the MacRae Memorial Final last week after a costly mistake at the start, but will be in the hunt for victory on Thursday as she attempts to add to her 40 lifetime wins for Vernon Bridge owner Donald MacRae.
Galway Girl (3-1) will have rail control with Marc Campbell on the bike for conditioner Landon Campbell. The Shanghai Phil mare was a winner in the open length two starts ago in 1:55.4 and followed up with another win last week in 1:57.1.
Fresh off a string of sharp performances, Rosetown Mary (7-2) looms as a top threat from post 3 for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson. The Pang Shui mare has been consistently on the board throughout her career and has 13 top-three finishes from 16 starts this season.
Also in the field are the Jennifer Doyle-trained duo Elm Grove Mistress (4-1) with David Dowling at the wheel and Shake N Blake (6-1) in line with Ken Murphy.
The Post Time Picks give a nod to Acefortyfour Dome to record another in the win column.
“Acefortyfour Dome raced big from post six and two starts at Summerside and made an unfortunate break in that lucrative final last week, but she is a fierce competitor. Expect her to bounce back with a big effort from this inside post.”
Earlier in the program, the trotters compete in race 3 for a cash prize of $3,850. Rocket Blast (MacPherson) gets post 5 for owner Carl Bagnall as favorite and will have to fend off Glider Man (Dowling), Majian Salsa (Jim Ripley), Labero (Marc Campbell) and Hallofaride (Ken Murphy).
