Road tax e-reporting obligation can now be extended for < 6 months - paultan.org

There have been e-motor vehicle owners who have encountered difficulties in renewing road tax if their vehicle permit (eVP) was due to expire within six months, as road tax renewals were only allowed for six and 12 months. From today, owners of e-hailing vehicles can renew their road tax for shorter periods of one to five months. Named reports.

“This means that all e-hailing vehicles that are legally registered will be allowed to renew their road tax for a period shorter than six or 12 months. However, such road tax renewals will remain subject to the lowest remaining validity period of the eVP, Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (PPKM) report and insurance cover validity,” the Ministry of Transport said in a statement yesterday, adding that the minimum and maximum validity periods are now one and 12 months respectively.

“Owners of e-logging vehicles will be given the flexibility to renew their road tax for a period of one to five months, where the cumulative rate will not exceed the six-month rate. The six and twelve month rates will remain unchanged. This facility will only apply as long as the vehicle remains legally registered as an e-logging vehicle,” the statement said.
