Koenigsegg has broken another record, this time on one of America’s most demanding tracks. The Sadair’s Spear, the Swedish brand’s latest homologated hypercar, which broke ground in June this year, set a new lap record for production cars at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with a verified time of 1:24.16 on November 4, 2025.

What makes this feat even more impressive is the list of limitations. The only number Koenigsegg was able to get was a 90 dB noise limit day, Laguna’s quietest. To comply, the team quickly fabricated an additional muffler. It did nothing for performance, but made the car legal to drive. Moreover, the Sadair’s Spear was not even equipped with lightweight carbon fiber wheels, but with heavier aluminum wheels.

Despite these limitations, factory test driver Markus Lundh managed to push the car to a record lap, verified by Racelogic, around the 3.5 kilometer circuit known for its elevation changes, off-camber corners and the legendary Corkscrew. The record was previously held by the Czinger 21C with a time of 1:25.44 from 2021.

“We knew the Sadair’s Spear had the potential to beat the lap record. Achieving this feat with the added muffler behind the car shows the potential for even better performance on a day with less noise restriction. That the everyday usable and livable Sadair’s Spear – with Autoskin, electric seats, sound deadening, amplifiers and more – can outperform stripped-down track cars is a true testament to the depth of engineering that goes into our creations. I am very proud of our results and achievements, just made possible by solid and passionate teamwork.” – Christian von Koenigsegg.

The Laguna run took place immediately after Koenigsegg’s appearance at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, where the Sadair’s Spear was displayed alongside other hypercars and collector cars in one of the weekend’s main events. After the demonstration, the team took the opportunity to take the car to Laguna Seca for a quick test and walked away with a record.

The Sadair’s Spear is Koenigsegg’s successor to the Jesko Absolut and features a 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid system capable of producing up to 1,600 horsepower on E85 fuel, with power sent to the rear wheels via Koenigsegg’s innovative 9-speed Light Speed transmission. It weighs just 3,053 pounds, and with E85 fuel it has a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1.

In the short time since its debut, the Sadair’s Spear has also set several records this year, including the fastest production car at Goodwood in July, where it set a time of 47.14 seconds on the iconic Hill Climb, and the Gotland Ring record in Sweden, where it beat the Jesko Absolute by 1.1 seconds for a time of 2:55.88.
