Richard Osman has revealed how he ‘begged’ for his wife, Ingrid Oliver for a year before they finally met on the set of his BBC game show.
The meaningless presenter, 54, met Doctor Who actress Ingrid, 48, on Richard Osman’s House of Games in 2021.
From their first meeting, Richard said earlier: ‘Ingrid came to House of Games. I knew who she was through social media. We had never met – I had never met her. I had a small twinkle in my eyes, I will admit that.
“They came up, we filmed together that day. Our first date is completely on the camera. After filming, I thought, “How can I ask her for a drink, this is difficult.”
After they have become friends, they saved a romance and eventually married in a wedding ceremony from 2022 that Richard described as ‘the most magical, joyful day’.
In a new interview, the former Taskmaster participant shared how he was in love with his future wife long before they actually met.
Spend against The Sunday TimesRichard said: ‘I was aware of Ingrid of social media and thought she was very funny, but after a single tweet that we had never communicated.
‘I asked our mutual friend, the comedian Lou Sanders, to check whether Ingrid was available. She wasn’t. Twelve months later, in 2021, Ingrid was a guest in my Quiz Show House of Games.
‘This time Lou told that Ingrid was available, so I spent a long day in front of the cameras that did not desperately try to flirt. I made eye contact with her than any other guest ever. ‘
Romance had become friends during her house of games, and then flourished for Richard and Ingrid during Lockdown.
Engagement rumors started when Ingrid was seen in an emerald green ring.
Richard then confirmed the news in May 2022, during an interview with The observer.
Asked by fellow writer Marian Keyes or rumors about their engagement were true, the author of the Thursday Murder Club answered: “Yes,” Adding: “Exciting, isn’t it?”
The couple then made the knot in December of that year, surrounded by friends and family.
On the first Christmas day edition of Desert Island Discs, Richard Hulde brought to Ingrid and explained: ‘I am happy with myself, I have these beautiful children, I met the woman with whom I will be the rest of my life.
“That thing of competition and ambition, you quickly realize that Rocket Fuel is disappearing and it’s about happiness and my children bring me happiness and Ingrid brings me happiness.”
Richard split himself from his first wife in 2007, with whom he shares two older children, Ruby and Sonny, who are both in the twenties.
Both children were present at his marriage to Ingrid, where his son acted as his best man during the ceremony.
In the aftermath of their wedding, Richard admitted how ‘terrified’ he had been to get married.
He appeared on individual women and shared: ‘Yes, it is frightening to get married. All our friends were there, there is so much that you have to organize, you have the band, the drink, the ceremony, all that kind of thing.
“And too, it was so filled with love that day, everyone we knew, everyone we loved, people from school, from all my life, were there, and you just think,” I’m just not wrong. “
‘Of course, as soon as you are there and standing opposite each other, do the vows, you know it can’t go wrong.
“But beforehand it was absolutely frightening.”
