RFK JR announces Vaccinbom while limiting the access to millions of Americans

Millions of Americans are no longer routinely offered the Covid vaccine.

HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior today officially revealed that the shot would no longer be recommended for healthy children and healthy pregnant women.

He said that the vaccine was removed from the immunization schedule of the CDC, a guideline used by care providers to determine which vaccines children should receive and when.

RFK JR said that he ‘could no longer be satisfied’ with the announcement, which leaked for the first time weeks ago, adding that it was ‘common sense’ and ‘good science’.

It is barely a week after the FDA revealed that it would limit the availability of Covid boosters for adults younger than 65 years old.

The agency also said that it would now require data from long and expensive clinical tests before it would approve further boosters for the age group, in the midst of concern about whether they have an advantage of the shots.

In a video at De Post, RFK JR said: “Last year, the Biden administration insisted on healthy children to get a COVID recording, despite the lack of clinical data to support the repeated booster strategy in children.”

The relocation reverses previous guidelines that the COVID vaccine had recommended for anyone six months old and older.

The recommendation for the COVID vaccine for young and healthy people has long been criticized, since the groups run a low risk of hospitalization and death due to the virus.

There are also worries About side effects linked to the recordings, including myocarditis or heart infection – that is rare, but is a little more common in young adults.

And the fears have been collected that pregnant women do not benefit from the vaccine, although studies show that it is safe for the group and their risk of miscarriage, stillbirth or birth defects does not increase.

Critics say that although it comes at a time when trust in health officials is low, the change runs the risk of sending a confusing message about vaccines.

HHS secretary RFK JR unveiled the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, where he also placed a video of himself flanked by Dr. Marty Makary – The new FDA -Head – and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya – The new head of the NIH, which finances research.

Dr. Bhattacharya added: ‘That ends today. It is common sense and it is a good science. ‘

Dr. Makary said: “There is no evidence that healthy children need it today and most countries have stopped recommending children.”

There are more than 73 million people in the US – about one in five individuals – who are younger than 18 years old.

About 5.3 million pregnancies are also registered in the US every year.

A healthy child or a healthy pregnant woman probably becomes a person who has no underlying health problems, where vaccines are still recommended for those in the group who have them.

The CDC Maintains a list of at least 20 conditions that increase the risk of suffering from serious Covid and someone is eligible for the vaccine, including disorders such as obesity and physical inactivity.

Dr. Vinay Prasad, responsible for vaccines for the FDA, suggested at the end of last week in a press conference that the list of underlying circumstances of the CDC means that the vaccines remain available for most.

RFK JR seems to have unilaterally removed the recommendation from the vaccination schedule of the CDC, a power that the HHS secretary has rarely used.

Normally, any changes would go through a consultation period and the advisory body of the CDC vaccines – ACIP or advisory committee for immunization practices – before the HHS Secretary is applied. The CDC is currently without acting director.

In the article by New England Journal of Medicine that was published last week in which updates for vaccination inspections suggest, pregnancy was mentioned as one of the medical conditions that justify COVID vaccination.

News first broke that the administration considered restrictive recommendations for the Covid vaccine two weeks ago, when reports suggested that they would no longer be recommended for pregnant women, children and teenagers.

Last week the FDA also said that annual updated COVID recordings would no longer be automatically approved.

Dr. Prasad said and revealed the change: ‘We launched this multi -year campaign from Booster after Booster after Booster.

‘[But] We do not have the gold standard science to support this for average risk, low risk, Americans. ‘

He said that, instead, companies should carry out new clinical studies to demonstrate that the updated boosters offer an advantage for younger adults who run a lower risk due to the virus.

This is an opinion shared by former FDA commissioner Dr. Robert Califf, who wrote in Jama in January: ‘Covid vaccine recording is now low enough [randomized clinical trials] are possible to evaluate the efficacy and safety of new updated boosters. ‘

A randomized clinical study is a study in which participants are assigned to at least two groups, where only one treatment or factor is tested, while the other receives a placebo.

These studies are generally considered the gold standard for evaluating the safety and efficacy of new vaccines.

And it is comparable to the policy in many other Western countries, including the VK, France and Germany, which only recommend the Covid boosters for older adults.

DailyMail.com revealed in February how different members of the government of Trump insist on stricter restrictions on the Covid vaccine.

Recording of Covid Booster Shots has fallen in the US, with data that demonstrates that alone 23 percent of those who are eligible for the booster, six months old and older, emerged for last year’s shot.

Experts say that this is linked to the US health insurance scheme, whereby the broad eligible are eligible to ensure that everyone is covered for access to the shots.

Kennedy has a history of opposition to the Covid vaccins and said in 2021 that the shots were “the deadliest vaccine ever made.”

In the same year, he also submitted a petition to the FDA that was withdrawn for the consent of the Covid vaccines.

After Trump’s victory in the presidential election, RFK JR said he will not ‘take away someone’s vaccine’.

“If vaccines work for someone, I will not take them away,” he said in November 2024.

‘People must have a choice, and that choice should be informed by the best information. So I will ensure that scientific safety studies and efficacy are there, and people can make individual reviews about whether that product will be good for them. ‘
