In an interesting turn of events, the BJP has dropped the ax on two of his Karnataka MLAs – StomeSkar and a Shivaram Hebar – they expel them for six years in a radical disciplinary movement. State BJP President by Vijayendra confirmed the removal, with reference to “anti-party activities” as the reason behind the expulsion. This step is on the heels of the Basanagouda Patil Yatnal suspension in March, who had already caused speculation about internal gorges within the party.
Legislative Council opposition leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy stated that the MLAs did not want to stay with them. St Somashekar represents Yeshwanthpur while a Shivaram Hebbar is the MLA from Yellapur.
In conversation with the media, he said: “Our leaders sent them in a way that did not invite the disqualification of their membership. I welcome their expulsion,” he said. “Their removal was a decision of central leadership. I believe that both might be happy with it,” he added.
He claimed that the duo met leaders from other parties on the sidelines. “There is no dissident meeting now; what existed were only those two. Now the curtain has been drawn on all different activities,” he concluded.
Comment Congress
Spokesperson BL Shankar of the congress noted that these suspensions left the BJP weaker. “Janardhan Reddy lost his membership, and now the party has expelled these two members alongside Yatnal. It exposes the internal differences in the opposition party and demoralizes their employees in the process. In a sense it helps the ruling party,” he emphasized.
Political analyst Narayana, however, pointed out that there is a distinction between these suspensions.
“Hebbar and Somashekar have participated in the BJP of the congress and do not possess extreme ideological views, in contrast to Yatnal, known as a hardliner. They are able to win from their constituency, omnipresent of their party. He said.” He said.
Yatnal was often given statements to the party and senior leader BS Yediyurappa, who told the former main minister to put the party first and to stop his “crush” with his son, by Vijayendra. On two grounds, this delayed removal was considered a weakness, said the political analyst, who cost the party in terms of her image.
“Despite the fact that they had a highly high order, they could not discipline the MLA. Some people thought he would not speak as he did, unless a National level faction supported him. That indicated groupism in the party. The outbursts of Yatnal were seen as internal bickering at national level,” he added.
Moreover, the two were not taken seriously as BJP MLAs because they switched to the party of the congress.
He continued: “They were expected to be deported or suspended. They were Operation Kamala candidates for the BJP and were therefore only in the BJP as outsiders, was not part of the core. They decided to be firm and showed the confidence of the party’s party.”
