Julius Randle and his Minnesota Timberwolves kept it close, but they eventually lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday evening and are now a single loss away from the late season.
Randle was supposed to be a huge help for the team, but in the end he was just an obstacle.
After the game he spoke with ESPN about how bad he performed.
“I think it was just a lot that I was just specuring,” Randle said. “I had to think of a way to keep myself involved in actions. I think I did not make my first shot in the second half until there were 20 seconds left in the third quarter. I had to think of a way to get myself in position to be more aggressive, instead of standing alone, specifying or trying to crash the glass.”
The figures from Randle were nothing to write home about, and he only scored five points on 1-of-7 from the field, a play-off career low.
He had a rough first half and it became clear that the second half would not get much better.
He was not the only one struggling because Anthony Edwards also had a bad night.
It is a shame to see Randle perform so badly because he had done quite well in the play -offs until that moment.
However, OKC has been very complicated and challenging for Randle, and in this series he looked more inconsistent compared to how he did against the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors.
He scored 28 points in game 1, only six in game 2 and then 24 in game 3.
Randle can come back strongly in game 5, and the fans hope he does that.
If he still has a difficult game, the series – and the season – could be over.
