Marcelo Mayer’s waiting is over.
The Red Sox calls on Mayer, one of the top perspectives of MLB, prior to the second match of their Doublehead against the Orioles on Saturday. Masslive’s Katie Morrison-O’Day was the First to report the move.
After Alex Bregman had come up with an injury on Friday, Alex Cora Infield had to find reinforcements and fired the idea that Mayer moved to Boston to stabilize the line -up. The decision was apparently officially made shortly after the availability of Cora Pregame.
Mayer spent the afternoon in Worcester and received congratulations from his teammates before he came out of the clubhouse and on his way to Boston.
Roman Anthony – MLB’s best -arranged prospects – gave Mayer a hug and congratulations with Instagram while in turn waiting to make the ride to Boston.
This season, Mayer played four games on the third base with the WOO SOX, and although his primary position is short stop, it seems that he will be deployed at third base while Bregman is out of the line -up. His experience in multiple positions (Shortstop, second base, third base) will help him find a place as soon as Bregman returns.
“We will play him everywhere,” said Cora about Mayer after game 1 Saturday.

Mayer was vocally with his disappointment that the Red SOX selection did not make at the beginning of 2025, with the feeling that he had performed well enough to earn his place. Now, almost two months later, he can only smile.
“I am excited. It has been a pretty emotional 30 minutes,” Mayer told reporters.
Mayer is in line to make his Red Sox debut from 2025 on Saturday evening.
