Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin crashed Pakistan for the aiming of match referee Andy Pycroft about the controversy in the handshake after the victory of Team India in the Asia Cup 2025. Ashwin also stated that Pakistan should concentrate on the removal of their game.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) submitted a formal complaint to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the ICC, looking for the removal of Andy Pycroft from the Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav avoided a handshake with Salman Ali Agha at the Worp. Indian players do not shake the Pakistani players after the game either.

“Andy Pycroft actually saved everyone to see such a bad spectacle. India has informed the match referee in advance – this is our decision, and we will follow it. That is it,” said Ashwin.
“After all this drama you lost the game. So what are you complaining about? You didn’t lose because we don’t shake hands. Please find out what you can actually improve,” he added.
Andy Pycroft iS No Teacher – Ravichandran Ashwin
Pakistan has released a video of a meeting with competition referee Andy Pycroft in the Restricted Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA). The ICC rejected the requirements of the PCB and confirmed Pycroft as the competition referee for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 Super Four Clash between India and Pakistan in Dubai.
Ravichandran Ashwin said Pakistan unfairly focused on the handshake issue. He stated that the referee cannot force players to shake hands. Ashwin added that Pycroft had not done anything wrong and should not be made for the incident.
“If no handshake was your problem with India, why were you looking for an answer to that problem in the VAE game? Why did you have to make Andy Pycroft the scapegoat? He did nothing wrong,” Ashwin said.
“He is not a teacher. He is not a director. He cannot take Surya with him and say: ‘Come shake hands’. That is not his task. What is Pycroft’s fault here?” He added
The case should end there – Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin stated that the Indian players followed a BCCI guideline. He added that the cricketers had clearly communicated their attitude and that the case had to be considered closed.
“Whether it is a head office, a government company or a cricket team – when there is an organizational guideline, follow it. Our players were clear: they were here to represent India and they followed the protocol. The cricketers also communicated their position – they said:” We don’t want to shake. ” That is our side of the story.
India will again be confronted against Pakistan in the Super Four phase of the Asia Cup on Sunday 21 September. India won through seven wickets in their previous meeting. They limited Pakistan to 127/9 and then comfortably pursued the target.
Team India is expected to retain their no-hand shake, and the men in blue will hope to start the Super Four stage in a strong tone.
