Manchester United decided to cut Rasmus Hojlund this summer, after the gloomy 2024/25 campaign of DANE, in which he managed a meager four Premier League objectives.
The 22-year-old was desperate to stay in Old Trafford and believed that he was better than a new arrival Benjamin Sesko, but did not get the chance to set up his claim.
That made him deeply sad because he finally chose to join Napoli with a first loan with the Serie A champions that were obliged to sign him if certain conditions are met at the end of the season.
The ex-Atalantaas has one goal in three games, and in an interview with The RepublicHe explained why he chose to come from Manchester to Naples.
Why Napoli & Series A
“There is a special football culture here, I felt it immediately when I first came to Naples as an opponent, with Atalanta. The fans were crazy and very passionate, making them different from the others.
“The city is really beautiful, just like the climate. But above all I have found a family atmosphere, which I now needed in my career. My plan is to settle and be accepted.”
The Napoli No.19 also explained the most important differences between playing in the English top flight and Serie A.
“It is still the same if I remembered it from my season with Atalanta. The football here is very tactical, with a lot of man-on-man duels.
CR7 & Mctominay
“In the Premier League, however, the pace is a bit higher: everyone is fast, strong and physically explosive. If I had to show a difference between the two competitions, it is precisely that.”
The Danish striker also revealed his love for United Legend Cristiano Ronaldo and why the love affair started. He explained that, just like the Portuguese, he also strives to always improve.
“It is not out of probably. In my career I never felt the most talented player in the group, even if you have to be a first -class striker to play for United of Napoli.
“But I always had to work harder than others, and I am aware of that. That’s why Cristiano is my idol: he always wants to improve and works hard to get better.”
At his future
About how it felt to reconnect on the field with former graduate Carrington Scott McTominay. Rasmus Hojlund also revealed how much the shot has improved since his move to Italy.
“In real life he is still the same scott: a great guy, a nice guy. But on the field he has grown a lot and plays in Italy. My goal is to follow his path.”
And at his future, the United Lianee revealed that he hopes to stay in Napoli for the near future and has no plans to return to Old Trafford.
“I also played in Austria before, after I had left Denmark as a child. At the age of 22 I already have a lot of experience under my belt. But now I am in Naples and I am planning to stay.”
