Rapid Rail has extended its operating hours to accommodate passenger travel patterns during Ramadan. The star has reported.

According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, peak hours will occur from 6:30 am to 9:30 am in the morning and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the evening. By comparison, regular peak travel times during other months are from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the morning and from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the evening, the report said.

“These steps have been taken to ensure smoother operations, improve passenger comfort and accommodate crowds who use Rapid Rail trains as their preferred travel medium when heading for a break,” said the Transport Minister, who also noted that the extended peak hours measures are implemented annually during Ramadan.

The Transport Minister added that Rapid Rail is continuously implementing predictive and preventative maintenance measures to ensure the rail service is prepared all year round. “This can reduce the chance of technical disruptions. However, we cannot predict when disruptions may occur. Regardless, we are working hard to reduce this,” Loke said.

Technical staff are present on the trains to take immediate action in case of disruptions, and station staff are also trained in efficient crowd management to reduce congestion, the Transport Minister added.
