Texas Rangers Outfielder Evan Carter Was looted by a throw on his right pols on Thursday and manager Bruce Bochy told hosts Kevin Hageland and Cory Mageors on a radio top at 105.3 The fan on Friday that the subsequent imaging revealed a break. The team has not confirmed that Carter will miss the rest of the season, but that certainly seems likely, given the decreasing number of days on the schedule. The team has not formally announced the injury, a placement on the IL, or any corresponding transactions, but will certainly do this prior to Friday’s game.
Carter actually stayed in the game after he had hit the wrist. He ran the bases for himself and played a number of innings even a single in his next battle. He was later lifted in the game. Alejandro Osuna Replaced him late in the game and saw an increase in playing time with Carter who came to Adolis Garcia (sprained ankle) on the wounded list. Osuna, Wyatt Langford, Cody Freeman, Josh Smith, Ezequiz Duran and designated Slagman JOC Pederson is currently the other Outfield options on the main class schedule of Rangers (although Pederson has only played one match in the outfield this season).
It is the newest in a continuous series of tough injury injuries for Carter, a former pick and top perspective on the second round that still has to reverse a full season at MLB level. He was previously plagued by back injuries, which led to a (relatively) small ablation procedure in October, and he also missed the time earlier this season due to a tense quadriceps.
If he is healthy, Carter will have had an up and down career. He finally captured the Majors in 2023, debuted with a .306/.413/.635 Slash in 75 plate appearances along the piece before they placed similar songs in the late season while the Rangers marched to their first World Series title in the franchise history. Last year’s continuous back injuries have certainly contributed to a gloomy follow -up effort, in which he only reduced .188/.272/.361 in 162 turns on the plate. He has been somewhere between those two extremes in 2025 and hit .247/.336/.392-accident seven percent better than League Average, due to the WRC+benchmark.
All in all, Carter is a career .235/.326/.420 Slagman in the Majors, although his excellent play -off does not include in 2023, when he .300/.417/.500 hit 72 plate performances. It is clear that Carter is an immense talent, making it all the more frustrating for both he and the team that injuries have repeatedly kept him off the field.
The Rangers activated Carter at the start of the season and held him in Triple-A until 6 May. It is probably no coincidence that this timeline means that he will only close the year for two full seasons of Major League service. If Carter was even recalled two days earlier, he would be checkable for four more seasons. Instead, the Rangers now control him for five years, all the way until 2030. In all likelihood, he will be a prominent factor in the Texas outfield, both next year and for the near future – of course.
In the meantime, a Sparteling Rangers club will try to merge the Outfield with a combination of Langford, Smith, Freeman, Duran and Pederson. Texas operated as buyers during last month’s trade deadline, but they are 7.5 games back in the Al West and 5.5 games from an Al Wild Card spot. Since their deadline additions are supposed to have pushed them over the CBT line, it would not be a surprise If Texas placed a number of approaching free agents on outright distance statements Between now and the deadline of 1 September for the late season, in an attempt to go back on its toes under the luxury threshold.
