Seven -time Melbourne Cup winning owner Lloyd Williams has his luxury city spenthouse farewell to $ 17.7 million.

Williams holds the record as the horse owner to have won the most Melbourne cups, including with Twilight payment in 2020.

His other thoroughbreded also galloped to the victory in the race that a nation stopped in 1981, 1985, 2007, 2012, 2016 and 2017.

Later he sold most of his interests in the site to his friend, the late Mediatycoon Kerry Packer and his son James Packer.

Kay & Burton -chairman Gerald Delany, who had the list alongside colleague Oliver Booth, refused to comment on the owner or buyer.

But Mr Delany said that the penthouse of 1280m² with a main bedroom with a two walk -in cupboards and an ensuite, a wine storage space and a view over Melbourne, had followed both local and foreign buyers.

“I was interested, the campaign was not very long,” he said.

“An apartment like this is a rarity, a penthouse that at the top is one and a half floor of a building at the top, and that is why I had the interest I did are probably only two or three others like it in Melbourne.”

The lower level of the building has its own balcony and a granite-mounted kitchenette and wine storage.


There is enough space to store clothing and accessories in the walk -in wardrobe.


The new owner, who is located internationally, flew to Australia to inspect the place of residence.

Mr. Delany said that many of the potential buyers were surprised by the views of the house that take on the Royal Botanic Gardens, Albert Park Lake and Port Phillip Bay.

He added that the Melbourne prestige market began to warm up as spring approached.

“The top of the market is seeing a good power in buying question,” he said.
