The National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) released its selection for the upcoming NHLPA Rookie showcase planned for 3 September of the Medstar Capitals IcePlex Arena, the practice facility of the Washington Capitals in Arlington, Virginia. The showcase offers the opportunity to collect videos and photos from players for their first official trade cards thanks to thanks Upper deckThe official trading card partner of the NHL and to be used for other promotional material. Goalkeeper Olivier Rodrigue was the representative of Edmonton Oilers in 2024, and Quinn Hutson is their representative in 2025.

The Oilers introduced a two -year entry level (ELC) contract in April after a successful season with the Boston University Terriers of the NCAA. Boston went on to the Frozen Four National Championship, in which they lost 6-2 to the Western Michigan Broncos. The resident of Illinois registered 23 goals and 50 points in 38 games with the Terriers, his third full season in the NCAA. He registered 56 goals and 114 points in 117 games at the collegial level.
The right shot winger immediately joined the oilers when signing, so that he burned down for a year, making him an unlimited free agent at the end of 2025-26. He played the last two games of the regular season of the oilers, but did not register a point, on average 13:26 in his limited action. Hutson joins Elite Rookies
Hutson joins a showcase with the 2025 First Pick, Matthew Schaefer and other first round Picks recently, including Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Jimmy Snuggered, Iginla, Berkly Catton and Beckett Sennecke to name just a few. There are a total of 20 first round picks from the 31 players invited to this event. The Innived Oilers is the third oldest participant at the age of 23 and is one of the two others who are not plagued either. This event offers the possibility to expose Hutson to extensive media reporting, interviews and a photo shoot in Oilers Gear, which is exciting.
However, this selection was surprisingly considering the elite talent and other prospects in the Oilers system. They had been able to send 2025 third round Pick Tommy Lafreniere, or 2023 Second Round Pick Beau Akey. They could also have sent their newest top perspective, and recently taken over Isaac Howard, who also came from the NCAA, such as Hutson. Or even Matt Savoie, who is ready to make the leap to the NHL full -time. Howard and Savoie have top-six-six potential, while the Hutson ceiling is probably in the bottom six.
Nevertheless, the club chose Hutson for this opportunity. He has the chance to play on the road on the NHL because the oilers need cost-effective bottom-sixers with offensive instincts, and he fits that account. He has a great shot and can hopefully contribute to an NHL -Line -Up as a roller player. Although he is not there yet, he has potential, and hopefully a full season in the AHL will help. He had options that came from the university, but chose Edmonton because it fits well, and this showcase will be a great learning experience for him.
