- Another striking achievement: Mayfield’s general figure of 92.2 was in first place under the Quarterbacks in week 5 and was the second highest figure for one match because of all the quarterbacks this season.
- Play elite football from a clean bag: Injuries along the Buccaneers attack line have made pass protection a challenge, and Mayfield has had to deal with the third most under pressure dropbacks in the competition. But if he is kept clean, he has been very effective: his 86.7 is sufficiently out of a clean bag in ninth place under the Quarterbacks this season.

Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers recovered on Sunday with a decisive victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The eighth -year signalbeller delivered one of his strongest passing performance of the season and showed the leadership despite the fact that he played under his third attacking coordinator in the same number of years.
Mayfield’s general figure of 92.2 was in first place under the Quarterbacks in week 5 and was the second highest figure for one match because of all the quarterbacks this season.

He caused most of his damage in the second half, with 17-out-19 for 264 Yards, three large throws and a sufficient of 95.3. Almost flawless after the break, Mayfield helped the Buccaneers to a convincing victory.

Let’s dive into the film and explain the striking moments from Mayfields while he continues to build on a strong campaign for 2025.
Really a cool concept of the bucs here and baker reads it perfectly.
I like to turn the wheel of the slot into an excavation. Does not give the Hook/Curl defender a chance pic.twitter.com/7kmzcvijmmmm

Firstly, the BUCs developed a truly unique passing concept, but it took time to develop. They applied a distribution concept, essentially two recipients who managed a post and a corner route. They built on this with a wheel route from the movement receiver, but the unique was that the recipient instead of staying on the flat or to take the steering wheel along the sidelines, broke a digging route.
That brought the hook defender to a difficult position. When he turned around to pick up someone in his zone, he saw three receivers pushing the field, not realizing that one behind him was cutting on a burglar.
For Mayfield he did an excellent job by staying patient, knowing that those two deep routes would not open, and hit the excavation as soon as it released the flat defender.
What Mayfield made so effective in the second half was his elitist expectation. Almost every pitch was perfectly timed and delivered when his recipients came from their route.
Baker was absolutely on fire in the second half. One of the best halves I have seen playing a QB pic.twitter.com/eqvcwsaa0o

The BUCs later made a perfect play-call again in the second half, this time a MILLS concept against a quarter of the Seahawks. A Mills concept means that one receiver performs a deep excavation, while a second receiver places a pole right behind it. It is designed to remove the safety of the quarters from the game and to open the pole behind him.
That is exactly what happened here, but Mayfield still had to time perfectly. The moment safety turned its hips to remove the excavation, Mayfield was already about to throw. He has done an excellent job by recognizing the reporting in advance and by anticipating the fact that the mail would open. Because the outer cornerback essentially played Persman, Mayfield knew that the safety was involved in the excavation, and that gave him the green light to fire a laser for the touchdown.
For whatever reason, Baker Mayfield has not received the honor he deserves for his arm talent. He has one of the best arms in the NFL that few people seem to talk about – and he exhibited them during this throw.
Never question Baker’s arm. My rough estimate says that this is approximately 63 meters in the air pic.twitter.com/vzcaxcnsgx

There are very few Quarterbacks with the arm power to go to the back of a read and still get a recipient – especially if that recipient is already 30 meters away in the field by the time the Quarterback arrives there. You could say that Baker Mayfield was a bit late with the progress, but that hardly mattered with the kind of arm power he showed here.
This ball traveled more than 60 meters through the air from the point of letting go, and Rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka hardly had to pause to get it. There was not much to analyze – it was just an incredible display of the arm power of Mayfield.
With the way Baker Mayfield played in the second half of Sunday’s game, there would not have been many teams that were able to keep track of the attack of the Buccaneers. Mayfield continued to improve his game year after year – his general figure improved from his first to his second season in Tampa Bay, and if he stays on his current process, he will raise that figure again in 2025.
It is even more important that this level of Quarterback game could bring both Mayfield and the Buccaneers firmly into the Super Bowl conversation.
