Caleb Williams and the Bears recorded their first victory on Sunday with a dominant offensive show, with a glimpse of what is possible when William’s time has time to operate in Ben Johnson’s system. It was the kind of implementation that Chicago needed to calm the nerves and restore trust.

Caleb Williams earned a 72.4 passing figure in Sunday’s victory, the highest of his season so far and the fifth best figure of his career. Just as encouraging for the bears: he was put under pressure on only eight dropbacks and was not fired for the first time in his NFL career.
Williams keeps thriving when they are kept clean. His general figure of 90.5 from a clean bag is in sixth place in the competition, but that number falls to 51.0 under pressure, 23rd under Quarterbacks. Performance from a clean pocket is one of the most stable PFF tracks, making Williams the success of Williams in that area a strong indicator of future growth.

An important element of Ben Johnson’s attack is that Play-Action of Under Center passes a fundamental main component of his system. Caleb Williams already embraces that shift and registers 31 dropbacks from under the middle to three games – almost a third of his total from the entire last season.
Tight end falls on the route and it still doesn’t matter. Good ball placement from Caleb pic.twitter.com/x1g8tkv7nj

In the above piece, the bears run a flood concept from a first three-striking final set, foring which the defense is forced to match a deep corner route from a tight end with a Linebacker mastal a mismatch that benefits the attack.
Although the tight end of his route is bumped, Caleb Williams quickly diagnoses the coverage. With the corner and safety occupied through the deep route and the flat defender tied underneath, Williams makes the throw with confidence. His ball placement is perfect, so Colston Loveland can set up the field for extra Yardage and a big win.
Another characteristic of Ben Johnson’s attack is the creative game, including frequent trick games. We often saw it in Detroit, and he has already shown that he is not afraid of calling them in Chicago.
Just an unreal amount of arm power to make this throw pic.twitter.com/4digp4n2tk

There is not much nuance in this – it’s all arm power. The timing of the piece is thrown away by a flip back to Caleb Williams from the run, but it doesn’t matter if you can launch a ball almost 60 meters with just a subtle step in the bag. Williams lets it tear, and Luther -load hardly breaks to drag it in. Arm power and of course poor talent have always defined the game of Williams, and he never hesitates to show it.
This aggressiveness perfectly combines Ben Johnson’s system, which thrives on attacking the center of the field. No team threw the center more than the lions last season, and Chicago already uses the same approach to stretch the defense and maximize the skills of Williams.
Layered center of the field throw, that’s the good stuff. pic.twitter.com/tbslcvfpa

This was my favorite throw from Caleb Williams on Sunday because of everything it demanded – timing, patience and precision.
With 43 seconds in half, Williams had two safe options in the flat that would have helped set up a better field target attempt. Instead, he both bypassed and laid a perfect throw of more than 25 meters down.
The mail is usually covered against a cover 3 -look, but Williams remains composed. As soon as the safety and Linebacker bite slightly on the towbar underneath, he fires the ball behind them with an impeccable timing.

The 2025 Bears season depends on the relationship between Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson. Although the link did not explode from the gate, the underlying figures suggested that it was only a matter of time. That potential was realized on Sunday.
In addition to a few small accuracy problems, Williams was decisive, in rhythm and consistently the right reading – exactly what Bears fans should see.
