Proton officially announced today that his first factory in Hicom Shah Alam was closed and that 1,400 employees of the factory were completely transferred to their main factory, Proton Tanjong Malim, located in the Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV), Perak.

According to Proton in a published statement, the last unit produced by the factory is still a Saga of the latest version of MC2 on September 30, 2025. With this transfer, all installation, production and R&D activities of the company are now consolidated under one roof at Proton Tanjong Malim. For the production, the factory has five main sections, namely motorcycle and transmission, stamping, bodyworksblage, paint (paint) and final assembly installation.

Proton also said that the factory is equipped with the largest mechanical press in Malaysia, while the new engine installation line in the factory is the only factory where the Gey TGDI 1.5 TGDI motor outside China is installed.

“With a production capacity of 250,000 units per year, Proton continues to strengthen local supplier chains by aggressively expanding components.
