The new local motorcycle brand, Afaz, that was introduced in 2023 is now ready for the launch of their first model at the end of October. This was told by KMSB Motor SDN BHD’s General Manager and Director Datuk Jeffrey Lim after a teaser That is broadcast online.
Asked more about the specifications of the motorcycle, he could only say that it used the base of the Kapcai model (with an acceleration instead of a scooter) Suzuki, as well as a 115 cc engine.
Although the basic model has already been offered in other countries, AFAZ has invested millions of dollars for improvement and adjustments to the motorcycle, so that it can satisfy the consumer and exceed the rules set by the authorities.
Jeffrey said that although the AFAZ came up as a local motorcycle manufacturer, it would not be at a cheap level, but it was more suitable for quality and performance. To what extent it is whether it is worth it or not, while we look forward to the launch.
For this year, Afaz is launching only one model, but will be followed next year by various other models, including a capacity of 150 cc. Jeffrey gives the impression that the only part of the engine was taken from Suzuki to the 150 cc model, while the other parts have all been developed by Afaz.
The production of motorcycles by AFAZ also helps other parts in the ecosystem of the Malaysian motorcycle industry, with this early period of 40% local components, while it will be increased to a maximum of 70% next year.
