In a tense match, Kapp and Tryon’s composure proved crucial, leading South Africa to a narrow three-wicket victory.

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first.

South Africa struggled to take wickets early while Bangladesh batted with patience and control.

Most of the Protea’s wickets came in the last 10 overs; However, by then Bangladesh had already built a solid platform and reached a competitive total of 235.

Shorna Akter 51*(35) and Sharmin Akhter 50 (77) were the standard batters.

Nokela Mlaba was the standout bowler, taking 2-42.

South Africa struggled with the bat, losing key wickets and facing tight bowling. However, Marizanne Kapp and Chloe Tryon brought them back into the match with a crucial partnership.

Tryon’s 62 (69) and Kapps’s 56 (71) helped the Proteas secure a 3-wicket win.

“The nerves were shot, that was a lot closer than we wanted, but I’m happy that we got the points,” said Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt.

“[Bowling] Tried to stay patient, thought slower balls worked well, bowled in front of the stumps. Frustrating not to get wickets early but they put in a good effort and Shorna was great at the end.

“[Batting] Kappy and Chloe were great. Not the start we wanted. I tried to be vigilant and build partnerships but we lost wickets.

“[Tight games] At least we’ll get across the border. There have been times when we have lost these games, and our mediocre scoring streaks are good to know.

“[Klaas hanging in with NDK] That lap at the end is incredible, we will talk about that for a long time.”
