Proteas demolished England in First Odi | England versus South – Africa – Cricket Fanatics Magazine

South Africa assured their very first victory over England in Headingley, where the hosts for only 131-Hun hit the second lowest total at home against the Proteas-Werden before they cruised for a 7 Wicket victory.

South Africa won the pitch and chose to first bowl, influenced by the showers that predicted that he would overlook his head later in the day.

Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi started by probing and felt the circumstances on what looked like a good stroke surface.

Burger brought over in his second and took Ben Duckett (5) with his second ball.

Joe Root brought a touch of calm with a border of every Zeeler, but his stay was short -lived. At 14 he closed Ngidi in the eighth, and Ryan Rickelton pulled a sharp low catch to the right – grabbed it at the second attempt after it came out of his fingertips.

England moved to 82 in 14 overs and seemed to settle in a recovery, but an unnecessary run-out by Harry Brook handed South Africa their third wicket.

Jamie Smith (54 from 48 balls) was the only real light place in the top order, which took his second career half a century and England past 100. But his resistance ended when he hit Wian Mulder to Fine Leg.

From there, the collapse was fast.

No. 1 ODI Bowler Keshav Maharaj was excellent and found Jacob Bethel’s edge for Aiden Markram in the 19th in the 19th, before he caught a sharp and bend to remove Will Jacks in the 21st.

The next, Mulder (3-33) hit two balls-Jos buttler to the keeper, followed by Jofra Archer to slide. England had entered 119-8.

Their innings hardly flashed from there. Maharaj (4-22) has attached Adil Rashid LBW before the Bowling debutant Sonny Baker the next ball to finish things.

England was bundled for 131 in 24.3 overs-hun on the second lowest total against South Africa on a home floor. Their lowest was 103 in the Oval in the ICC Cricket World Cup 1999.

The pursuit of the Proteas was fairly simple. It was led by Aiden Markram, who reached his half century in 23 balls, the fastest by a South African opener in ODIs.

However, he lost his wicket with SA at 121. He scored 86 of 55 balls (13 four, 2 sixes) with a success rate of 156.36.

Rickelton was more difficult than his partner, but he got stuck. He scored 31 out of 59 balls (4 four).

Bavuma lost his wicket for 6, and also Stubbs, looking to finish the game in style.

Brevis finished it in style and scored a maximum.

South Africa pursued the target in 20.5 overs to claim a seven-wicket victory.
