George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley today appeared on Fox News to comment on John Bolton’s FBI research.
According to Turley, Bolton could be confronted in prison for years, depending on what was found during the raid on Bolton’s house, and notes that the possession of classified materials has a pretty stiff fine.
It is really a stunning turn of events.

Jonathan Turley: These have long been existing accusations that the book indicated or referred to classified material that he may have acquired when he was in the administration. We are not clear what it is, but it can be national defense information.
That is important because that creates an increased potential fine. You can have fines that vary from 5-20 years. 20 years is the consensus for hiding information, the hindering of justice. Classified information alone can weigh after about 10 years, and there are often several counts because each of those documents can be charged separately.
There is a strange history here. You already had accusations in the first Trump administration and then there was a statement that the Biden administration agreed on this matter on this case, and now we have this new development.
We really do not know if there is something that happened the most recently, whether they have discovered something that they believe is a bit evergreen – that this is a feasible criminal case.

The only thing that Bolton has for him is that the media will defend him just because it is a way for them to combat Trump. As we all know, that has become the only reason for their existence.
