In ordinary circumstances, Arsenal can welcome the prospect of Nottingham Forest if they want to restore their defeat in Liverpool before the international break.
It has been almost four decades since Forest was the last better of Arsenal in Noord -Londen and in their last half dozen home games against the opponents of Saturday lunch, the Gunners scored 19 goals and only admitted two.
However, the circumstances are far from normal, with Forest’s appointment of Ange Postecoglou as a manager earlier this week and promises to add an extra lead to the procedure.
The Australian will inevitably receive a hostile reception if he only returns to the Premier League three months after his resignation as Tottenham Hotspur manager, but the men of Mikel Arteta may have more to worry than local resentment.
Since his appointment as head coach of the Australia national team in 2013, Postecoglou has kept an undefeated record in his first official competition responsible for a new side. That run includes an introductory victory with the socceroos and debut draws at the helm of Yokohama F Marinos, Celtic and Tottenham.
Whether Postecoglou can extend an undefeated series is another matter. There has been widespread disappointment among forest fans about the resignation of Nuno Espírito Santo, whose counter -standing style could hardly be different from the high -driven, high motivation, high -dunning tactics of the Australian, and it will inevitably take the time for Bos to adapt.
It is still to consider whether there will be a “new manager bouncer”, given the obvious affection in which Nuno was held by his players – although the forest team reportedly responded professionally to the arrival of Postecoglou.
Even without the injured Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, the opportunities prefer Arsenal to throw the glove to the League leaders Liverpool, which is only confronted with Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
Score prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Nottingham Forest
A repeat of the emphatic victory of last season over forest last season is by no means beyond the empire of the possibility, especially after the 5-0 routes of Leeds at the Emirates last month.
