An interesting update from a football agent on recent transfer claims in the media about this Newcastle United player.
It was recently claimed that Emil Krafth could sign for FC Copenhagen in January.
The Danish club are playing in both the Champions League and domestic competitions this season and have recently lost their first-choice right-back to a long-term injury, meaning they may sign a right-back in the upcoming transfer window.
However, Emil Krafth’s agent has now made it clear that this will not happen.
Swedish media outlet Fotboll Direkt contacted Patrick Mork, the Newcastle United defender’s agent.
Mork says that while FC Copenhagen is a great club, the reality is that no club in Scandinavia could pay anything close to what Emil Krafth earns at Newcastle United.
Krafth’s agent adds that there is also no chance of such a move happening, due to Eddie Howe wanting to keep the Swedish international defender as cover for the remainder of this season.
Emil Krafth has started both Carabao Cup wins over Bradford and Spurs so far, while his only Premier League minutes came playing the first half at West Ham when Kieran Trippier was ill. Compounding the fact that Tino Livramento was already nursing a long-term injury.
Emil Krafth sees his current contract expire on June 30, 2026 and will turn 32 before the 2026/27 season starts, so it seems unlikely he will be offered an extension after that.
Unless a club came forward with a good offer to buy him in January, the idea of Eddie Howe cutting his squad by simply letting Emil Krafth leave for a minimal or no transfer fee, or a loan for the remainder of the season, would make no sense at all.
Football Direct claim that Emil Krafth earns around £55,000 a week, but that is their speculation about his wages, and not his agent providing that kind of personal information.
