McLaren’s Oscar Piastri dominated FP3 and qualified to claim pole for 2025 Spanish Grand Prix.

Piastri appeared the fastest in a largely quiet FP3 for his teammate, Lando Norris and the couple dominated the qualification because McLaren waited a waiting waiting for an exclusion for the first row in Spain.

FP3

Hot temperatures at the start of FP3 led to many teams to stop their opening runs, but Alpine immediately sent Franco Colapinto to medium -sized tires, and the Argentinian set 1m 15,804 as the first benchmark that Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto was soon improved.

Shortly thereafter, everyone else started to serve steadily for their first flying rounds that Norris saw the fastest go on the medium -sized ties with 1m 14,540, although he was quickly displaced by Williams’ Carlos Sainz and then Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

Norris responded in the 24th minute with 1m 13,869, but Mercedes’ George Russell had chosen the soft band and stated 1m 13,396 to move his British countryman with 0.473s, while his own teammate – Andrea Kimi Antonelli came in second place.

Verstappen moved Russell with 16 minutes left when he placed 1m 13,376 on his soft qualifying simulation, but six minutes later Norris recovered from a wide moment in turn 9 to go the fastest with 1 m 12,913.

However, Piastri found 0.526S to surpass the session with 1 m 12,387 for his teammate, while Leclerc and Russell were third and fourth, before Verstappen who was themselves fifth and only 0.007s faster than sixth placed Isack Hadjar.

Q1

Colapinto was the first driver to venture and 1m 13,804 as the first benchmark time, but Stroll improved his time to go with 1m 13,699, for Albon, Colapinto, Ocon and Bearman when only five drivers ran in the first seven minutes.

As soon as all others have set up an opening round -time, Piastri set the pace with 1m 12,551 for Verstappen, Norris and Russell, which were divided with 0.008’s.

In the meantime, Ocon led that in the elimination zone for Sainz, Stroll, Tsunoda and Bortoleto, but the walk improved to the 14th with six minutes that Hulkenberg dropped in the lower five.

Hulkenberg eventually did not succeed in preventing elimination because he came in the 16th and only 0.011s before Ocon, who came out of the Outqualified Home Favorite-Sainz with only 0.002’s, while Colapinto and Tsunoda complete the Q1 outputs in 19th and 20th respectively.

Q2

In contrast to many drivers who first visited the track at the start of Q2 in Spain, Alonso chose to make an installation round that left Albon free to set the benchmark time of 1m 13,113 in the third minute.

Shortly thereafter, Verstappen and Norris brought the time of the British Thai driver superfluous, but Piaastri was the driver who set the pace with 1 m 11,998 as soon as everyone established a round time.

The bottom five now consists of; Bortoleto, Lawson, Albon, Stroll and Bearman with six minutes left from the segment.

While the checkered flag fell, none of the bottom five survived, but Albon improved to the 11th for Bortoleto and Lawson, while Stroll and Bearman remained 14th and 15th respectively.

Q3

Piastri was directly onto the circuit and quickly set 1 m 11,836 as the benchmarking time, but while he finished his lap, Norris brutally stood a crucial slipstream of his teammate who brought him to a provisional pole with 0.017s with 1m 11.819.

Russell led Leclerc, Verstappen, Hamilton, Antonelli and Gasly from third, while Alonso chose to put his first kite in the gorge, who saw him rise to a surprising fifth position when Hadjar chose a single kite to do a single kite at the end of the run.

With the checkered flag, Norris was only able to improve with 0.064’s, but Piaastri recovered with 1 m 11,546 to take a pole while McLaren has achieved a first Spanish GP-Lockout since 1998.

Verstappen closed Russell for third place by first setting their identical round times, while Hamilton starts the fifth; Antonelli, Leclerc, Gasly, Hadjar and Alonso.
