AI -startup startup Perplexity has the use of AI coding tools internally -and says that the engineers have been noticeably more productive.
Perpexity CEO Aravind Srinivas told Y Combinator that the startup made it “mandatory” for its engineers to use AI coding tools, such as such as Cursor Or Github Copilot. These tools can generate blocks of code and error detection programs.

Srinivas said that Parplexity Engineers have seen measurable results so far: the use of the tools that is shortened on “experimenting” for new tasks of “three, four days to literally an hour,” he said.
“That level of change is incredible,” said Srinivas. “The speed with which we can repair bugs and be sent to production is crazy.”

Bee Bloomberg’s Tech Summit In May, Srinivas predicted that perplexity would handle “a billion questions per week” within a year. “He pointed out that when the AI search engine started for the first time in 2022, these 3000 questions processed a day and continued for 30 million questions per day in May.
“It has been phenomenal growth,” said Srinivas during the event.
Yet there are “problems,” Srinivas said about the use of AI coding assistants, and noted that the tools can introduce new bugs that software is not familiar with and do not know how to solve.
Last week Perplexity introduced CometAn AI-driven web browser that takes on Google Search and Google Chrome. Comet uses the AI search engine from Pertlexity as a standard tool, so that the core product of the company is placed in front of and in the middle of users.
