President Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Sunday that he plans to give every American $2,000 tariff dividends.
The president previously said he wants to give Americans a “rebate” because of the trillions of dollars in revenue from tariffs.
Trump has also suggested that his External Revenue Service, which he announced on January 14, 2025, will “completely eliminate” income taxes for “people making less than $200,000 a year” to “collect our tariffs, duties, and all revenues coming from foreign sources.”
This comes as the Supreme Court weighs the constitutionality of tariffs after the Court of International Trade in New York said President Trump exceeded his authority to impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977.
However, the Supreme Court, which has awarded Trump victory in nearly every case challenging his policies, this week questioned the president’s authority to impose sweeping tariffs under the law.
Trump this morning criticized the courts, wondering how the President of the United States could be allowed to “stop ALL TRADE with a foreign country” but not “impose a simple tariff on a foreign country, even for the sake of NATIONAL SECURITY.” He continued: “Businesses are flooding into the US only because of the tariffs.”
“Didn’t the Supreme Court of the United States tell you this??? What the hell is going on???” he said.
So, let’s get this straight??? The President of the United States is permitted (and fully authorized by Congress!) to stop ALL TRADE with a foreign country (which is much more severe than a tariff!), and to issue a license to a foreign country, but he may not impose a simple tariff on a foreign country, even for the sake of NATIONAL SECURITY. That is NOT what our great Founders had in mind! The whole thing is ridiculous! Other countries can charge us a tariff, but we can’t charge them??? It’s their DREAM!!! Businesses are flooding into the US ONLY because of the tariffs. DID THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES NOT TELL THIS??? What the hell is going on???President DJT
In an earlier message, Trump pointed to low inflation, record high stock market and 401(k)s, trillions in tariff revenue, and foreign and private investment in the US, announcing that “a dividend of at least $2,000 per person (not including high-income earners!) will be paid to everyone.”
