Lahore: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Tariq Bugti on Monday, claimed that the national players started to receive their unpaid contribution in phases.
Bugti, while dealing with the media, shared that the national hockey players will receive their local newspapers owed in the first phase.
“Money started with the bills of players. Local newspapers are given in the first phase,” said Bugti.
“We have emphasized our limitations to the players and they recognized them,” he added.
It is relevant to mention that the Pakistani hockey team, which won a silver medal at the Nations Hockey Cup in Malaysia, still have to receive their daily reimbursements.
Sources showed that each player owes approximately PKR 500,000 in unpaid daily reimbursements.
They added that international daily reimbursements were not paid during the FIH Nations Cup, which caused a growing frustration between players. The constant silence of the federation has only added to their anger.
Moreover, the players have not received any reimbursements for the training camps that are held in two phases in Islamabad.
Sources noted that players are entitled to PKR 30,000 a day for international tasks and PKR 3,000 a day for domestic activities.
The failure of PHF to erase the contributions caused frustrations among the national players, with rumors about an uprising against the federation that also rose last month.
National Team Captain Ammad Butt, who was a vocal critic of the PHF about the issue, had acknowledged that the hearing mutter about the likely rebellion of players against the federation last month, but emphasized that the discussions were not final.
“There are rumors about the uprising of players, but nothing has been completed yet. Whatever happens in this respect, we will inform the media,” said Butt.
The speculation started after the private conversation of the national hockey players was leaked online, in which they accused the PHF of unfairness and they misled, in which it was stated that the federation no longer even responded to their concerns.
“The federation has always misled us and kept us in the dark. Now they are not even bothering to answer, which is unacceptable,” said the players.
“We need someone who at least responds and listens to us. We are always assured of receiving our daily reimbursements, but those promises were never realized,” the players added.
