Green was not the first to raise suspicion about Tariq’s action. The spinner has a distinctive run-up, with a noticeable pause before releasing the ball from a side-arm angle, often giving the impression of a throw. He was reported for suspected illegal action during the Pakistan Super League in both 2024 and 2025. On both occasions, Tariq underwent biomechanical tests at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and was cleared, with officials confirming that his elbow extension was within the ICC’s 15-degree limit.
Tariq has previously defended himself by claiming that his bent arm is a natural, biological trait rather than a technical fault. Meanwhile, Australia were bowled out in the match for just 108 while chasing nearly 200, handing Pakistan a big win and a 2-0 lead in the series.
