Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Highlights need for striking improvement | MMA UK

Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett has emphasized his need for improvement in the striking department in a potential future matchup against Ilia Topuria. A matchup between the couple has been brewing for several years, where the couple shares a heated past, but Pimblett was not shy to share his faith in the need for improvement on the feet.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the scouser said: “My striking time is not feeling there at the moment. Last week my striking time felt good, and I did five rounds with Luke (Riley) … (I) probably wake up on the wrong side of the bed today. I have to get that striking time better if I want to work.

Pimblett is always known for its gripping and submission skills of world class, but his striking has always been something that fans and experts have been critical of, with many who emphasized his tendency to let his chin high in the air- IS who would be very dangerous against a boxer of Ilia Topuria’s class and power. Yet his remarkably enormous improved since he became a member of the UFC, and his use of stairs is one of the strongest tools in his arsenal. In a fight against Topuria, those stairs can be useful to keep away when Pimblett is not looking for the wrestling. Pimblett was very confident in his grab in the same video and said: “My wrestling always feels phenomenal. When I get people on the floor, they don’t stand up as Khamzat against DDP.”

Yet it seems likely that Pimblett has to fight at least once before he accepts Topuria, with all the signs that indicate a matchup between the Spaniard and Justin Gaethje. There are only a handful of potential candidates who allow Pimblett to fight for the title. Perhaps it makes sense for Pimblett to spend more time on polishing his battle before he was facing Topuria.
