On the road again … Stop First Spain!

I left on Tuesday afternoon for Mallorca, Spain via London Heathrow, on British Airways. What I learned:

The British Airways website says that passengers can continue two racquets in a slim case. I interpreted that as a tennis bag as a cover (a long version of the ironing bags that we often receive as players’ gifts at tournaments) … Mine was of full tennis and said so much. The check personally at BA in San Diego did not agree and said that it had to be sucking around and only held 2 breeds (which makes such a bag?) … So when checking in I had to place my two racquets (and case) in my larger suitcase, which fortunately had a lot of space and weight to allow this. It is something in the whim of the desk person or supervisor, because I have seen people on Ba Rackets continue in a case of similar size.

My flight was good and even landed a little early. I had a fairly long stopover in London, before I flew to Palma de Mallorca for two hours. My bags made it, but after making my two previous trips, in California, without checking a bag, I see the allure (of course with BA it would not have worked).

I found the shuttle to Wiber car rental OK, but when checking in for my rental car (for the first time ever), an international driver’s license was asked. That I had considered to get, but just didn’t have time anymore … and forgot to get too. (Paper versions can be purchased at AAA in the US). So I bought one online and have a digital international driver’s license … The car rental company did not refuse to rent, but said that if it is persuaded, it could be a problem. It was around $ 45 for a three -year license.

My first stop was at Aldi, where I grabbed breakfast stuff, salad confirmations, nuts and more. It was pretty busy even at 7:30 PM.

I found my accommodation just before dark (only 10 minutes or less from Aldi), which of course took a lot of turns in narrow Mallorcan streets, many of which were a way (and a way in which streets mean that there is no room for both a car and a pedestrian on the same side of the street! But the owner’s directions were perfect as the apartment.

Tennis tomorrow … and it is pretty hot and damp here, almost 90.
