On October 27, water supply is disrupted in parts of Secunderabad

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) on October 27 announced an 18-hour water supply shutdown in various parts of Secunderabad to facilitate the ongoing work related to the construction of the elevated corridor from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road along NH-44.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) will replace an existing 800mm diameter mild steel (MS) pipeline at Paradise Junction. To facilitate liaison works and interconnection of the newly constructed 800mm MS pipeline between Marredpally and the Control Room, at Ch. No. 200 (sports field) and Ch. No. 650 (Lee Royal Junction, Balamrai), the closure will be in effect from 12 noon on October 27 to 6am on October 28.

During this period, there will be no water supply in areas served by the following reservoirs: Nallagutta, Prakashnagar, Mekalamandi, Boudhanagar, Srinivasanagar and Pattigadda. Other affected places include Bholakpur, Kavadiguda and Sitaphalmandi, as well as Hasmathpet, Ferozguda and Gowthamnagar.

Major consumers such as South Central Railways (Secunderabad), Military Engineering Services (MES) and Begumpet Airport will also face disruptions. Moreover, areas under the Secunderabad Cantonment Board, including Balamrai Pump House, Balamrai Checkpost, Bowenpally and AOC Railway Colony, will face suspension of supply during the lockdown period, a recall said.
