After his victory in group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes, Ombudsman (128) is now the highest rated horse in the world in the seventh edition of the Longines World’s Best RaceHorse Rankings before 2025.
Moreover, as a result of his dominant victory in the Drafting Travers Stakes, sovereignty now that the highest rated horse in the world with a rating of 127.
Ombudsman defeated Delacroix (126) with 3 ½ lengths in York, and with that he raised his rating to 128 from 127. Earlier this year Ombudsman won the stakes of the Prince of Wales in Royal Ascot with two lengths about Anmaat (123). He then finished second at a neck to Delacroix in the Stakes of Group 1 Coral-Eclipse.
Sovereignty briefly worked on his opposition in the travers and pulled away to win 10 lengths. As a result of that effort, he raised his rating to 127 of 125. Sovereiny’s other other victories this year came in the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve, Belmont Stakes presented by Nyra Bets, Jim Dandy Stakes presented by Mohegan Sun and YOOLME. Sovereignty is in second place with the Japan -based Forever Young and Irish Classic Winner Field of Gold.
Fiercess went into the top 10 after his score in the Pacific Classic Stakes, in which he defeated Preakness Stakes Winner Journalism (120) with 3 ¼ lengths, while journalism was 6 ½ lengths for the next competitor. The 125 rating brought fierceness into a draw for eighth place in the world’s best racing ranking. Earlier this season, fiercessness won the Alyseba Stakes presented by Sentient Jet.
