Oilers have signed UFA forward Jack Roslovic [Report]

The Edmonton Oilers have resumed talks with UFA forward Jack Roslovic, according to Elliotte Friedman. It also appears that they have signed the 22-goal scorer.

Elliott Friedman broke the news during the Oilers vs. game Flames on Wednesday evening. He wrote: “As mentioned during the break, I hear Oilers have re-contacted Jack Roslovic. We’ll see where it goes.” Not long after, he added, “He will sign there.”

Roslovic had been waiting for a deal with a team that didn’t seem to be coming. He was skating in Columbus, hoping to land a multi-year contract. It will be intriguing to see if the Oilers give him more than one season.

Oil companies have been in Roslovic all summer

In mid-September, Pierre LeBrun of athletics said the following:

“I do believe there was an offer from the Edmonton Oilers at one point, but 28-year-old Roslovic turned it down. Rumor has it he would like to get a term on his next contract – more than a year. That may not be easy to do this late in the case as the teams are largely full. But we’ll see.”

If (when) Roslovic joins the team, it will be interesting to see who emerges. Noah Philp made the opening night roster as the depth center, and Curtis Lazar was a healthy scratch. This likely won’t be good news for either player, as it will likely impact their hopes of earning regular minutes in the NHL this season.
