Nuno Newcastle United’s press conference has taken place.
The West Ham boss will address journalists on Friday afternoon.
At Nuno’s Newcastle United press conference, he confirmed that Dinos Mavropanos, Ollie Scarles and Niclas Füllkrug are all missing on Sunday.
The Hammers boss also covers a number of other topics.
Nuno asked about Newcastle:
“I have known Eddie Howe for a while and we are going to face a very strong team at a good time.
“Eddie has a fantastic team and he is doing a great job getting the best out of them.”
Nuno is asked about his week:
“It was a long week, but at the same time a good week. The players committed to the group, so we expect improvements.”
“It’s not easy, but things need to be addressed.”
Nuno asked about team selection and tactics:
“It’s something we don’t like. I would have liked to find a solution sooner and I stuck with it. I think we have to find a solution because it hasn’t worked. We are still looking and I hope we can solve all the problems.”
“There are many factors that play a role.
“But honestly, I wish we could stick with one solution and have it click so we could move forward.
It’s not easy for the players and I hope we can find a solution.”
Nuno asked about battles on the pitch:
“We are working very hard on that. We are creating a dynamic in the training, so that we have more time to work on that.”
“We have to improve the way players perform. We are working very hard on that.”
“I won’t even think about transfers until January 1. I have to improve the players here. Everyone has to improve to help the team.”
Nuno asked about playing at home:
“It is a reality that it has been tough – we cannot hide from that. I hope we can connect well with our fans and that the fans can see a good performance from the start. We have to be strong at home and we have to compete.”
Nuno asked about choosing his starting XI:
“The benchmark is when we face our opponents. I am very positive at the moment because the week has been long. The players have worked hard and the sessions have been good. We have trained, but we have also analyzed things. On Sunday we will see what we can do.”
Nuno asked about Lucas Paquetá’s midfield fight with Bruno Guimaraes:
“It won’t just be in midfield, there will be fights everywhere.
“But we are going against one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. I don’t think they will be friends during the match! After the match they can be friends again!”
Nuno asked about Callum Wilson:
“He is a top professional who understands the decisions. He is committed to the team and wants to help us. He can add good things to the team, but all members of the team are important.”
Nuno asked about defensive improvements:
“The priority is to produce a good game, in which we can compete well. What we expect is that we can sustain our performance level for longer.”
