The recent struggles of Nissan are no secret. The company is struggling with financial problems, cutting jobs into its factories and is confronted with Class-Action legal cases on defective engines. It is not surprising that the sales figures reflect that.
According to data collected by research agency Market lines– As reported for the first time by Nikkei thing– Nissan stopped from the top 10 of the global car sales until the first half of 2025. It is the first time that Nissan has fallen from the top 10 in 16 years. The turnover of the company fell by 6.0 percent to 1.61 million vehicles, well behind the market leaders such as Toyota and Volkswagen Group.
Thanks to this sharp decrease, the Chinese car manufacturers could surpass BYD and Geely Nissan, with BYD achieving a turnover increase by 33 percent and went to number eight on the list. As an addition to work, the old domestic rival Suzuki also walked past Nissan and sold 1.63 million vehicles – 20,000 more. It marks the first time that Suzuki has sold Nissan since 2004.
Between April and June, Nissan reported a loss of ¥ 15.7 billion (around $ 105 million), which marked his fourth consecutive quarterly losses. That is a stark contrast with the same period last year, when the company achieved a profit of ¥ 28.5 billion (around $ 191 million).
