Nile Ranger signs with new club

Earlier this week it was announced that Nile Ranger had parted ways with his newest club.

Kettering Town released an official statement (see below) revealing that they were parting ways with the former Newcastle United striker after 13 months at the club.

The owner of seventh-tier Kettering Town, who has only good things to say about Nile Ranger, praised Nile Ranger’s ‘commitment’ to the club over the past 13 months and wished him the best of luck in the future.

Kettering’s statement also said the 34-year-old left by ‘mutual consent’ between player and club.

On social media, Nile Ranger seemed to contradict this version of departure by ‘mutual consent’, but he has now found a new club.

Wellingborough Town have now announced that the striker has joined them:

“Everyone at the club is excited to have Nile on board and looks forward to utilizing his experience and pedigree. Welcome Nile!”

Nile Ranger drops even further down the football pyramid, leaving the seventh tier and now playing in the eighth tier of English football.

Kettering Town FC official statement – October 12, 2025:

‘Kettering Town FC can confirm that Nile Ranger has left the club by mutual consent with immediate effect.

Ranger made his debut against St Ives Town on 9 September 2024 and scored his first goal, a penalty, in the (FAC2Q) draw against Cleethorpes Town in our 1-0 win.

After making his 50th appearance at Alvechurch on Saturday, as joint top scorer in the league with six goals in ten games and eighteen goals in all competitions, Nile will forever be remembered as part of recent Poppies folklore with his unforgettable winning goal at Sixfields against Northampton Town in the FAC1Rd in front of the BBC cameras.

The club’s owner, George Akhtar, commented: “I would like to personally thank Nile Ranger for the memories he left faithful to Kettering Town. His dedication to the club, both on and off the pitch, is a testament to him. You will be missed. Great players perform in big games and that is what Nile Ranger embodies. Good Nile.”

The Club wishes Nile every success in his playing career and Nile knows he has a family who would always welcome him back to Latimer Park.
