We have made a nice boat excursion around La Maddalena in North Sardinia, based on the city of Palau. We opt for our excursions with care, and this felt well chosen. La Maddalena’s Archipel and National Park is a paradise that is worth discovering!
Boot Excursion around La Maddalena – Starting in Palau
La Maddalena is an island and an archipelago (as well as a city) in the northern part of Sardinia. You can go to the main island with a career boat, which we did in 2015. Another way to experience the islands, which is incredibly popular, is to start a day trip by boat from Palau. This was what we were doing now! We went to the boat Shark IV from the company Park fleet.
Palau is located in the northern part of Sardinia, which belongs to Italy.
Start in Palau on Norra Sardinie
We booked the boat trip the day before what you are asked, and then arrived well in advance in the harbor, before departure at 11 am. There was the life and movement that we should say! Soooo many excursion boats and sooo many tourists. We can see that it is popular to make this type of boat excursion during the high season!

We boarded “our” boat well in advance and provided a good place at one of the tables on the upper deck.

A short time later it was stuffy on board …

A short stop in the city of La Maddalena
Our excursion started with the boat that was ruled to the city of La Maddalena, on the island with the same name. Here we can just stop taking extra passengers, but regardless of it was nice to be able to look in the nice town.

The island of Spargi – Stop for baths and lunch
Then it was time for a stop on the island of Spargi. The voice of the speaker (who spoke in Italian, English and Spanish) encouraged us to take pictures on the Turquoise blue water – and of course we did that!

Then the boat added, and we could go ashore for sun and bath.

Yes, what it was!

When we came on board again, we ate our lunch bag. Much more did what we did, while others paid for lunch on board. Are there pasta screws with tomato sauce on a cardboard plate for expensive money? Well, we were happy with our own picnic!

Islands Budelli and S. Maria – Stop for Baden
The journey went on and there were a few more photo and bath stops. Now we were on the islands of Budelli and S. Maria and we were not allowed to go ashore here. However, the turquoise water was free to experience!

Cala Garibaldi on the island of Caprara – Stop for sun and bath
Another stop was made where we got ashore – the Bay Cala Garibaldi on the island of Caprara.

Here met dramatic mountains, beautiful pine trees and a beautiful beach. It was another moment with sun and bath.

Peter also took the opportunity to pick up his drone, so we got to see the bay from above.

Drönarnyn confirmed what we also saw from the boat: sooo many boats in the water. There are excursion boats, luxury yachts, sailing boats and motor boats of all varieties …

On the beach people enjoy the sun and bath, preferably with a parasol because it is hot in the sun in the afternoon in the sun.

Cala Coticcio on the island of Caprara – Stop for Bath
On 17, the last stop, who offered baths outside of Cala Coticcio on the island of Caprara. From our side we now felt “saturated” when bathing and we stayed on board, where we looked at all the enormous luxury yachts, which are often surrounded by small boats, supplies or huge inflatable swan or flamingo baith rings. Or why not rest the boat with a slide straight down in the plurret?

At the end of the Tour we were also able to view some of the old military fortifications on the island of Caprara.

Back in Palau
Shortly after 6 p.m. we were back in the small town of Palau, after a long, beautiful day at sea. From here we walked back to the campsite where we took the night.

Where can you live or stand at the camper?
If you want to make a boat excursion around La Maddalena, it is of course easy to live in Palau or nearby. We brought along Camping AcapulcoFrom where we only had 0.6 kilometers to walk to the tourist port. Moreover, we really enjoyed this campsite!
It was not super cheap (we paid around 50 euros/night without electricity) but the campsite offers an experience in the form of a fantastic view of the sea, delicious rounded stone formations everywhere and beautiful seaside resorts.

More to see and in the neighborhood
Another variant, to experience La Maddalena is to take a car boat to the main island of La Maddalena – then it is also possible to take a camper with you. Near Palau you can also experience the beautiful beach Spiaggia di Porto Pollo. If you want to go a little further and experience even more turquoise water and beautiful beaches, we can highly recommend a stop in Cala Gonone.
