New information seems to be coming out every day as the trading market continues to take shape.
Today we look at a possible Calgary Flames fire sale as they prepare for a rebuild. We will also touch on what the Minnesota Wild are looking for, and finally, the Maple Leafs will be paired with the Philadelphia Flyers. Matvei Michkov.
Minnesota Wild looking for Top-Six center
After subtracting one of the biggest transactions of the season so far the Wilds aren’t done. They’re still looking for a top-six center on the market, and they may have found a fit in New York. Trocheck feels like a good fit for the Wild. He plays their style of hockey, sliding comfortably into the top six, and there is also a connection to Bill Guerin from their time with the Olympic team. The big question, as always, is the asking price. The Rangers would likely be looking for a first-round pick, an NHL player and a high-end prospect in return.
Flames’ fire sale
The Flames are heading into a crucial trade deadline and appear ready to sell players to recoup assets. It’s an idea that actually makes some sense. Michkov has had an uneven start with the Flyers, and a change of scenery could be appealing. If the Maple Leafs could put together a package to land him, he would immediately add skill to their center six. And if they can help him get back on track, there’s an upside for him to climb into the lineup and become a key part of the roster.
