Are the Winnipeg Jets looking for players with term?

NHL Rumors Report: Elliotte Friedman on the FAN Hockey Show on the Winnipeg Jets: “The one thing I could see with them as well…their history is that they like to try to recruit people at term, so I’ve been looking around a little bit; who has the term and who is available.”

Will the Calgary Flames move Rasmus Andersson soon?

NHL Rumors Report: Frank Seravalli and Bob Stauffer on Oilers Now earlier this week on whether a deal could happen in the next two weeks.

“Bob Stauffer: Is there anyone you can expect to be moved here?
Frank Seravalli: In the short term?
Stauffer: Yeah, like in the next two weeks.
Seravalli: Rasmus Andersson; they want… to get that file off their plate well before the Olympics, if possible.”

NHL Rumors: Scouting SJ-LA, Carolina Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Lightning

The San Jose Sharks are looking for some experience, but in the mid-20s

NHL Rumors Report: David Pagnotta on Daily Faceoff Live on the San Jose Sharks: “They’re also looking for a veteran presence up front; guys who have proven themselves in the NHL, who have years under their belt, probably in their mid-20s, that they can build on and get into that top 6.”

Missing the playoffs and not selling would be a disaster for the Toronto Maple Leafs

Nick Kypreos of the Toronto Star: The Eastern Conference remains wide open with the Toronto Maple Leafs caught in the middle. The Leafs have been going at it for years with little success, and the stakes are high for the Leafs.

The Leafs, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning are among the Atlantic teams with few trade assets, while the Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabers and Montreal Canadiens have plenty of assets to work with.

The Leafs don’t have a first- or second-round pick this year, nor their first next year.

Missing the playoffs and not selling pending free agents wouldn’t be a disaster. Pending free agents include Bobby McMann, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Nick Robertson, Nicolas Roy, Max Domi, Steven Lorentz, Scott Laughton and Troy Stecher. It’s an important time leading up to the deadline for the Leafs.

NHL Rumors: Something needs to change in New Jersey

McMann could get as much as $4 million on the open market. He has size, speed and shooting, but he is inconsistent. If they traded him, they could get two quality pieces.
