The Fourth Period: The San Jose Sharks would like to be both buyers and sellers at the March 6 NHL trade deadline. Sharks GM Mike Grier is believed to be talking to teams about upgrading their blueline and middle six, and listening to some of their pending UFAs.
Pending free agents include forwards Jeff Skinner and Ryan Reaves, goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic and defensemen Mario Ferraro, Timothy Liljegren, Nick Leddy, John Klingberg and Vincent Desharnais.

Grier is looking for a top-four defenseman in his early to mid-20s who still has life left on his contract. Beforehand, the Sharks were linked to Vancouver Canucks Kiefer Sherwood and St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou.
