The Minnesota Wild are one team Vincent Trocheck is keeping an eye on

The magazine with Jeff Marek: David Pagnotta said the Minnesota Wild are a team that has been eyeing New York Rangers center Vincent Trocheck.

Pagnotta: “You know, I mentioned Trocheck, a team circling him, the Minnesota Wild. And we know Minny isn’t afraid to keep making plays, and Billy Guerin has been very active.”

Marek: “Yes.”

Pagnotta: “Before the Hughes trade, he was looking at a second-line type of player. Top-six type guy. That hasn’t really stopped.”

So whether it’s going to be at the center position or someone else on the wing, but it certainly sounds like Minnesota has at least been looking around for Vinny Trocheck’s availability in New York.

NHL Rumors: Artemi Panarin and Kiefer Sherwood

The rental market is quite thin, so are teams turning to fixed-term players? Three big names

Marco D’Amico of R.org: The quality rental pool leading up to the March 6 trade deadline looks small. Teams may be forced to look at players with maturity more often than in the past. A source:

“Teams have had to get a little more creative when it comes to trade negotiations. More expiring players will likely be moved before the deadline due to the small number of sellers and loan options. It will make for more complicated deals, but also more exciting.”

Players with a term that can be made available.

Vincent Trocheck – New York Rangers – Three more years at $5.625 million and a 10-team no-trade list. Would be the perfect second-line center and there is interest. Would think the Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild and Carolina Hurricanes would be interested.

Elias Pettersson – Vancouver Canucks – The Carolina Hurricanes and Canucks talked to Pettersson last year, and about Quinn Hughes earlier this year. Hurricanes Jesperi Kotkaniemi have been mentioned. A source said Pettersson’s $11.6 million could be too much for Hurricanes ownership. A source wondered about the Philadelphia Flyers and former Canucks coach Rick Tocchet. Would the Utah Mammoth be interested?

NHL Rumors: Los Angeles Kings Need Goals, Artemi Panarin Need Offense?

Robert Thomas – St. Louis Blues – Thomas, like most Blues, has not had the season they had hoped for. A source said Brayden Schenn and Justin Faulk are likely on their way to getting younger. A source said that if the Blues received a big offer for Thomas, similar to an offer from Quinn Hughes, they would consider it. More likely an offseason deal.
