What’s next for the Calgary Flames?
NHL Network: Elliotte Friedman on the NHL Network, when asked what the trade market is like for Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri. He’s not the only Flames getting interest.

Host: “Let’s stay out west, Elliotte, as we move on to Calgary. Nazem Kadri, I think his name has been in the mix since the beginning of the season. What’s the trade market for him right now?
Friedman: “I know I heard late last week, Lauren, after they made the deal, obviously the big one for Rasmus Anderson, that things had calmed down a little bit with the Flames.

Now I think for some of their guys, including Kadri and Blake Coleman, someone else, possibly even someone like MacKenzie Weegar, has that control over his situation. I think these are all names that will be discussed.
Zach Whitecloud, I think they wanted to have a conversation with him before they committed to anything. But I do think there would be interest in him too.
You know, the thing about Kadri, I definitely think there’s interest in Kadri. I definitely think he is a player that is being talked about.
But what Calgary has to deal with here, guys, is that they only have one retention slot until June 30th, as if they have Markstrom and Anderson locked up until June 30th. So if you look at all these players on their team who have term left, they can only keep one until the end of this NHL year.
NHL Rumors: Dallas and Calgary are talking about Nazem Kadri
You know, I think teams have called them at different times. You know, I think Montreal has messed up Kadri at times. I think that’s true, I know there’s a little bit of whispering about Dallas. The one thing with Dallas is if they keep Robertson or a high salary, I don’t know if they have the ability and flexibility to do so. So I’m not so sure about Dallas. You know, Montreal has certainly been a team, and I think there have been a few others, but the biggest problem there is retention.
