Evander Kane would welcome a trade, but Teddy Blueger would like to stay
Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre: Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane said he would “welcome” a trade to a contending team and a shot at another Cup.
Forward Teddy Blueger would like to stay in Vancouver, but there have been no contact discussions.
Forward Conor Garland’s name has been in the rumor mill for years, so it’s not really a distraction for him anymore. The Canucks don’t really want to trade Garland, but they have to consider everything. The same can be said for Jake DeBrusk.

It’s possible the Canucks could get a third- or fourth-round pick for Kane and Blueger. They would probably get less for David Kampf.
The Montreal Canadiens are looking to take Patrik Laine’s goal away and find a right winger for their top line
Daily confrontation: David Pagnotta said the top priority for the Montreal Canadiens is finding a right winger to play on the top line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. They need to free up some cap space to do that, so they want to move Patrik Laine and his $8.7 million salary cap hit.
“He has an $8.7 million cap hit. The Canadians can keep his deal if they want. The Habs don’t have a lot of cap space overall either.
So they are now looking for someone to play on that top line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caulfield. They love their second rule. They like what (Juraj) Slafkovsky, (Ivan) Demidov and (Oliver) Kapanen have been able to do together. Finding someone who is firmly on the right side of that first line seems to be the priority.
At the same time, they are not going to rush their plans. They stuck to their guns, and kudos to Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton for doing that, because it clearly worked.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if we see parallel movements here. When you leave Laine, you bring in another guy to help move this team forward. They are not going to pay too much for a rental property. They are looking for guys who fit their core.

But leaving Laine would free up a significant amount of cap space so that could happen. So we’ll keep an eye on that. But Laine is at the top of many trade boards and trade watch lists. He is actively available and the Canadians are trying to make that possible.”
