The imams’ regime is trying to show defiance after the crushing blow of Khamenei’s death.

While many observers look for off-ramps for the US, Israel and Iran to end the war that is engulfing the entire Middle East, signs on the ground suggest that hostilities could continue for a long time.

Following the death of their supreme spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iranians raised the ‘red flag of revenge’ over the Jamkaran Mosque, located in the city of Qom.

The statesman reported:

“According to several media reports, a red flag, which symbolizes justice and revenge in Shia tradition, was seen on top of the Jamkaran Mosque.

Khamenei, the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, was killed in the US-Israeli attacks on Saturday. Iranian state media confirmed the development after Trump announced it on social media.”

Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law, grandchild and daughter-in-law were among those killed in the attack.

The dead also included IRGC commander General Mohammad Pakpour and Secretary of Iran’s Defense Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani.

“Mohammad Mokhber, Ayatollah Khamenei’s leading aide, said a team led by President Masoud Pezeshkian, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje’i will lead the country until the new leader is elected by the Assembly of Experts.

After Khamenei’s assassination, Iran’s National Security Council Secretary Larijani vowed to hit back hard against the US and Israel.”
