The New Jersey Devils are active and have had at least one call with the Vancouver Canucks regarding Quinn Hughes
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on Saturday Headlines on the New Jersey Devils, who have spoken to teams including the Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks.

“So you’re always asking, you’re saying, ‘Okay, who’s busy? What teams are running this week?’ And this week the number one answer was Devils.
NHL Rumors: Hurricanes, Blackhawks and Bedard
Lots of balls in the air. Really look around to see what’s out there. Their targets are also believed to include two Nashville players, Steven Stamkos, who has a say in the matter, and Ryan O’Reilly, who has been verbally promised to have a say in the matter.
But when Vancouver announced they were open, I sent that email to the league. I do believe there was a conversation, at least one, between the Devils and the Canucks about Quinn Hughes.
And I emphasize that I don’t believe anything is imminent. I don’t even know if they’ve gotten that far yet, but I do believe there’s been a conversation about where things stand and where they might be going.
Now it must also be mentioned to the Devils. They are because of their injury and cap situation. They are dollar in, dollar out. So if they bring someone in, they will have to remove people. And I think that’s why there’s so much time around the Devils. There’s a lot going on.
Ron McLean: “And you got nothing, Elliotte, from the New Jersey side, what would be the return of Quinn Hughes if he ever showed up…”
Friedman: “No, no.”
McLean: “…where to leave.”
Friedman: “No, no.”
McLean: “I don’t even want to go there.”
Friedman: “No. That’s why you take half the blame.”
McLean: “That’s right.”
The Edmonton Oilers have spoken to the Pittsburgh Penguins about Tristan Jarry
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on Saturday headlines on the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins and goaltender Tristan Jarry. The Penguins don’t want to keep a salary. The Oilers may want to keep Stuart Skinner.

Ron McLean: “Okay. Edmonton, the goalie.”
Friedman: “Look, there’s been a lot of noise around Tristan Jarry over the last 24 to 48 hours. So I spent some time down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what was going on here.
I think there is a legitimate Edmonton interest in Jarry, but I think it is extremely complicated and may not be possible. Especially since Pittsburgh hasn’t done that, has indicated it won’t keep it. He has two years left at $5.375 million, and the Penguins aren’t willing to keep him.
For those of you who are Oilers fans, you know what that means: that it might not be possible because Edmonton would have to undergo some roster surgery to make it happen. And right now, due to their own injury and cap situation, they’re really stuck. So like I said, I believe there is interest in Jarry, I just don’t know if it will be possible.
NHL Rumors: Will Term Be the Problem for the New York Rangers and Artemi Panarin?
And one of the reasons I don’t believe it’s possible is because I don’t think it’s a Skinner for Jarry situation. I believe what the Oilers would like to do, if they could ever do it, is pair Skinner with Jarry.
So again, there is interest, but I don’t know, and I’m not convinced it will be possible.
