NHL Rumors: Nashville Predators, Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers

NHL Rumors: Nashville Predators, Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers

The Nashville Predators listen to everything

Nick Kiezer: Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz said earlier this week on 102.5 The Game that he’s listening to everything and didn’t specifically say that Ryan O’Reilly, Steven Stamkos or Jonathan Marchessault have entered the conversation.

“My job now is to listen to everything. If someone comes to me about Stamkos, I’m going to listen. That doesn’t mean he will be moved.”

Nick Kiezer: Trotz added that he is open to taking back bad contracts if it increases returns and benefits the Predators in the long run.

NHL trade targets: Goalies who could make a move at the deadline

The goalie trade market may not be all that attractive for the Montreal Canadiens

NHL Rumors Report: Pierre LeBrun on Oilers Now on the Montreal Canadiens and their goaltending: “They need to bounce back because I don’t think the trade route is that attractive for Montreal; there’s no clear upgrade and it’s hard to do it in-season.”

Comps for some Philadelphia Flyers pending free agents

Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff: It wouldn’t be a surprise, but not a confirmation, that the Philadelphia Flyers have entered into contract extension talks with Trevor Zegras’ camp.

Believe the Flyers would use Dylan Cozens as a potential partner on a long-term deal – seven years at a cap hit of $7 million. It will likely cost more, and if/when it is signed, it could bring in $8.5 to $9 million per season. Would Zegras want to be the highest-paid forward, above Travis Konecny’s cap hit of $8.75 million?

Another former Anaheim Duck, Jamie Drysdale, is also a pending RFA, and a team source said Flyers defenseman Cam York could be a good addition to Drysdale’s next deal – five years at $5.15 million per. The rising cap could take Drysdale into the mid-fives.

NHL Rumors: Could the Philadelphia Flyers Extend Christian Dvorak?

The Flyers may be thinking about three or four years ahead of Bobby Brink. There is speculation that the Flyers will have to make some moves forward to make room for prospects. The Flyers may not be in a rush to move Brink. Brink could be looking at $3.5-$4 million, so he could ultimately be a candidate to move. Denver Barkey could step in for Brink on a cheaper deal.

A Flyers source said there have been no extension talks with UFA forward Christian Dvorak, and a two-year extension around his current $5.4 million could make sense.
